Because when you have alot of NG you tend not to detangle alot. So the fallen hair stays tangled until you finallly detangle and you feel like you have extra hair loss. mind you your suppose to shed 50-100+ hairs a day. I hard garlic does help. Try garlic tables HTH

yep my hairdresser says when you go too long without a relaxer your hair will let you know by shedding. I know for sure mine does.

It depends on the person and their hair, I think. It may be different for bone straight and texlaxed too, but as a texlaxer and stretching, I didn't experience excessive shedding. It's important to have a moisture/proteing balance. Moisture, however, is an absolute must. You can in no way slip or compromise on the moisture, especially at the line of demarcation. Just my $1 input for the day.

Yes. I start to shed more than normal around the 7th or 8th week. I recently started taking garlic supplements to help combat the shedding.

You shed more when your stretching your relaxer because you have two different textures in your hair, one chemically straightened and one natural. The line of demarcation is usually where you are going to see breakage because natural hair is stronger then chemcially processed hair. Moisturizing does help because it can soften the new growth and gentlely(sp?) handling your hair will help to cut down on the shedding.

Now fab, are you aksing about shedding or actual breakage, because they are different you know? I believe both occurs during stretching however, the one to really be concerned about is the breakage from the demarcation line and as Eisani mentioned, moisture moisture moisture is crucial while stretching. Protein treatments help to keep the line of demarcation strong while moisture helps to add suppleness which aid in keeping the hair from popping off from that line.

I don't have the shedding problem. I'm 10 weeks post today and no shedding issues or anything currently.

I do change the products I use as the weeks go by. More weeks that go by more moisture and condish laced with SAA for major slip that I use.

I think this is true. Because my last relaxer was in july. And my hair is shedding like a dog in the winter time. The reason why i stretch is because my hair grows really slow and I usually dont have enough new growth to relax until 2.5 or 3 months post.

I just asked the same question on a different forum! for those of you who had shedding what kind of garlic treatment did you use.. (meaning did u make your own or did u by a store brand)
Also should I braid my hair up or something? I wear it in buns day I comb my hair @ night and I oil it about every 2-3 days.. I am using a hair oil for naturals b/c i am stretching.. is that bad? I am so confused!

When I started my tranisition I was shedding and breaking a lot
until I discovered daily co-washing...
I used Mane N Tail everyday for a few months...
no more shedding... no more breakage...
