Does Keratin loosen hair texture?

I already asked this question in another thread but, there's not too much traffic there so, I didn't get an answer.

Does keratin oil loosen hair texture? (I was wondering because of the Brazilian Keratin Treatment.)

I went to the salon w/ my sister and this woman (she looked to be a 3c/4a) was getting a B. Keratin Treatment...well, the final result wasn't much different from when she initially sat in the chair, so I'd say no, but I'm not sure.

IMO:

Keratin alone, perhaps. With the BKT though it's the formaldehyde that does the real straightening.

They DO have one without formaldehyde, but many have attributed the straightening to the heat in that case. It's also not recommended for our hair type.

That said, there are exceptions to everything.

If keratin was enough to straighten hair, couldn't we all just flat iron with Aphogee two-step and be done with it?
