Does excercise really improve hair growth?

I would like to hear from people who excercise regularly. What types of excercises do you do? How often do you excercise? How much of an improvement in hair growth do you get.

Well i don't really excercise but i LOVE to dance so i would dance hours on end (anything from 2-6 hours)And my hair grows out like weeds. I notice that if i don't dance as much my hair doesn't grow out so quickly, i think thats because the blood isn't running round your body as good to penetrate the scalp. /images/graemlins/cool.gif

I exercise 3-4 times a week. Since it improves my blood circulation my hair grows quicker...so do my nails(I get mine done every 2 weeks and she is always commenting on how fast my nails grow).

Yeeeeeeeeeeeees this for sure! I have noticed that when I am training very hard my hair grwos sooo very fast. Good to know that others have noticed this increase as well.

Yes, it really does seem to help! Especially in the winter time. I had stopped working out for some time earlier this winter due to some chaos in my life, and my hair was at a near standstill, even with all the supplements I take. It's growing much faster now that I'm back on track with exercising. It mainly has to do with raising your body temperature and improving blood circulation.

i guess it does, but i can't really tell cause my dad took me to work out with him since i was little, so i don't really have a comparison, but whatever is good for your overall health IS good for your hair/hairgrowth also (for example working out, drinking lots of water, fruits/vegetables, etc).
nay

yes it does! but since i am so lazy i have taken to using peppermint oils to boost circulation in my scalp area. its working! its been 5 weeks after touch up and i think i ahve close to an inch of curly new growth in the S pattern /images/graemlins/grin.gif(so much for Andre's hair typing system(the vitamins have changed my hair type completely!) /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I agree with the other ladies it makes a difference for sure /images/graemlins/smile.gif
i don't go to the gym to work out, but I do dance and after a hefty dance session you can literally feel the blood pumping around your head and the scalp gets very warm and hot. It all helps with the circulation and the blood getting to feed and nourish the follicles.

Pandora,

How do you use the peppermint oils? I've been thinking about trying them myself, but I'm not sure how I should use them.

I agree with the other ladies that working out does increase your hair growth. I tend not to wear my hair down as much becasue I sweat so much. In a way, I wear more protective styles throughout the week because I work out during my lunch hour. My hair also seems more thicker and more new growth. It seems like after a month it is time for a touch up.

/images/graemlins/clap.gif Yea!!! I think this thread just made my day I'm two weeks into working out again and I have been dieting and I was currently at 148lbs and now I'm at 136lbs standin 5'8 I did'nt loose the pounds in 2 weeks I was 148 at the begginnig of the year. I'm really excited becuase I get good growth with my vitamin regimen and now to hear this I just love it /images/graemlins/smile.gif I work out 5 days a week (HARD). Today I had a good work out I harldly ever sweat but today I was soaked which I guess that means I had some good circulation going /images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Dern you guys are gonna really make me get off my lazy ass! hahahaha. When I move into my new apartment complex next month they have a pretty well equipped gym that I can use for free so I guess I'll be up in that mug on the regular.

Hi Rayne /images/graemlins/wave.gif Hows you beautiful baby girl?

This is a post I wrote on another thread about how i use my peppermint oil. HTH!!

aha! i tried something last friday nite. i made up a large bottle mix of about 10 essential and carrier oils (you name it!) plus castor oil and glycerine and WGO and honey and finally loads of peppermint oil. gave it a good shake. i shamppoed my hair on friday nite and sectioned my damp hair into 10 ponytails. i applied the mixture from scalp to ends and put on 2 shower caps plus bonnet plus silk scarf and went to bed. my goodness, my scalp literally tingled all NIGHT!!! i still got a good sleep. when i woke up i shampooed the oil out and deep conditioned (with Lekair cholesterol mixed with avocado oil) as usual and an ACV rinse. Result? shiny soft strong black hair!

i loved this intensive hot oil-stimulation treatment. with the cold weather my hair ends and scalp needs all the help i can give it. i will be making this regimen a friday nite regular

for those who cant afford the quite expensive Cathy's Ultra Black Hair conditioner, this is a great way to get your hot oil and scalp stimulation the night before followed by protein or cholesterol deep conditioning in the morning! the homemade oil mix can be replaced with a bottle of African royales HOT SIX OIL.
