does baggying really prevent split ends?

It seems like when I tried it for like a month I still needed a trim. and im tired of getting trims but i am taking another shot at baggying just to say i tried.

It works for me- but I don't use direct heat on my hair. theres the baggying 101 thread and in the case of permed hair I've seen where they baggy while using a phony pony.

I think split ends to some degree are inevitable especially with direct heat use (even if the direct heat isnt constant). Just dust your hair at relaxer time.
