No matter at you've been using, or is it only certain things. I'm trying to keep my pore clean, so my edges can come back in. tia

It works great on my hair and scalp!! I just use it monthly to clarify and my scalp and hair is clean without being stripped if you know what I mean. Then again I don't put alot of products in my hair since it's braided up under my wig.

I think shampoo, or more precisely, clarifying shampoo is what gets rid of product build up. ACV IMO gets rid of conditioner/shampoo residue from your scalp when you rinse. I don't know if it's a good "buildup" remover. I do know people use baking soda for build up. And I did try it once but it was too stripping for my hair that never has build up coz I don't use leave-in products. So I hated it. But there are many who like it.

What are you using that you think is causing build up? Do you use shampoo at all? If not, then I'm no help as I love shampoo. Hopefully no-poo folks can chime in.

Vinegar does not. Baking Soda does. Wash your hair with baking soda mixed with water and that should get rid of your product buildup. Then rinse it with Vinegar to get rid of the Baking Soda.

I use aveda shampoo

I don't know the shampoo but I read some reviews that say it can be drying so I imagine it would work, but you didn't say what it is you are using that you think may be causing build up. Coz if it's something like grease or tar (<--exaggeration) you may need a clarifying product to cut through it.

I have seen sites that says it does and many sites that say it doesn't. I say try it and if it works for you than keep using it. It is great for your hair either way.

The reason I am of the belief that ACV isn't a buildup remover is if I understand correctly that buildup removal is the purpose of clarifying conditioners, then they are effective IMO because they are usually more alkaline than regular shampoos if I'm not mistaken. So my take would be that for a product to be build-up remover it should be alkaline.

I may be wrong as I haven't really researched this, just seem to have noticed that trend. What's more, since most of the products that we use as leave-ins or conditioners are supposed to keep strands smooth and tend to be acidic for that purpose, then to remove them, you'd need an alkaline product.

Now I guess if you had a calcium compound buildup say from hard water, then an acid might be a good "buildup" remover....
