Does anyone with a relaxer brush their hair?

You know, I heard that brushing your hair breaks it off and/or causes balding. I don't know yet if it's true for all, but I do know that I was balding on one of my edges last mouth, and since I stopped brushing, it's come back, full and healthy!

Maybe it's just me,

but does anyone have a success story of the brush and has relaxed hair? I don't think it's much damaging to those with natrual hair.

No, I don't brush.

I just comb with a wide tooth comb on twice each week on wash days.

I never brush.I just use a wide tooth comb when I wash my hair and sometimes not even then

I do brush my hair occasionally with no problems when I wrap my hair or comb out a rollerset.

i make my husband brush it maybe within the first couple of weeks after i touchup but only because i like the way it feels on my scalp. it feels so relaxing and good and stuff....okay this is a HAIR thread jainy

when I was natural I used a boar bristle brush on my hair , not only on edges but right through. I did this when I was applying oil to the ends

I brush my top lightly with a boar bristle brush sometimes and I got a Denman D3 recently so I may use that more.

Nekee your hair is beautiful and I love the colour!

I only use a hair brush when i want a very smooth ponytail and that's once a month at the most. I'm embarrassed to say, but I use a soft toothbrush to smooth out my edges when they need some special attention. It works great!

I think a boar bristle brush is damaging to my hair. Every now and then I use a paddle brush (they say this is better for long hair) and I like the way my scalp feels after. I am obessed though, I am always looking to see how much if any hair is in the brush when I'm done. Thank God I haven't had any.

I like to use a paddle brush when I have a fresh relaxer to give it that smooth look and a boar bristle brush on my edges when the new growth shows up and gets unruly.

I don't think twice about it, if I need to brush, I'll do it.

I use paddle and vent brushes and have no problems with them. Hardly any hairs collect in the brushes.

yep. me too

i've decided not to continue brushing my hair daily with the paddle brush. i am learning how not to use it to wrap my hair also. it was ok to use whne i had the fresh doobis and perm but after i washed it it has been snapping my ends, no matter how careful i am.
now i just use a comb and a boar's hair brush to wrap and style.

I try not to brush that often, only when I wrap my hair. But I don't think too much about it.

sometimes but not through my whole hair shaft, mainly the edges for smoothing into a ponytail or something

I brush only my edges. A stylist told me years ago, brushing is not necessary, only just to smooth every now and then.

Never brushed, even before coming to this board. Just always seemed like "unnecessary roughness" . . .
