Does anyone wash their hair everyday?

I used to wash my hair with a little shampoo daily during the summer before I came to LHCF. Now that I know better, I still either wet my head or CW daily in the summertime. I do it whether I am relaxed or natural. My hair loves it.

I am transitioning since 03-04/2006 and I have been wanting to try this. I don't know what type of hair I have, but it seems to be looking more and more like Poohbear's, (somewhat...very tiny coilies and waves). What type of conditioners are you naturals using on your CWs? And can you give me an idea, sort of a step by step of how you are doing your CWs and what you do with your hair after ward? (product, no product, twist, bun, etc?)

Bumping....

What types of conditioners are best at maintaining moisture? What are you guys using? What do you do after the CW?

I used to Cowash every day, but I think it's too much manipulation for me. So I decided to co-wash every other day. I use any condish (Herbal Essence, Elasta QP, Garnier Ultra Doux, Vitahair...)

Since I did the BC on April 1st, I've been co-washing everyday, and shampooing every other day. I love co-washing now. I've been using the V05 Moisture Milks Conditioner in Honeydew Smoothie. I've had this conditioner for a while, used it on and off, but never really cared for it. Now I love it. I will have to try more V05 conditioners for my co-washes since I plan on doing it just about everyday for the remainder of the spring/summer. I think I will limit my shampooing to once a week, twice at the most.

Hi MizAvalon,

What do you condition wash with ? I know you are not big on using drug store conditioners. You use Keratase still right ?

I don't think there is anything wrong with washing every day. Even if you poo with a gentle poo several times a week you should be ok. Just lather once or twice. One thing I like about frequent washing is the feeling of fresh/clean hair .

I think most of the ladies on this board will use any kind of cheap instant conditioner, preferably without silicones unless you plan to wash it out regularly. Pretty much any conditioner that's not too thick or for deep conditioning since that tends to be overkill and cause build up....
After the CW, you can add your leave in and oil or serum and attempt an airdry/ indirect heat method ( ponytail method/ rollerset, bantu knots, twist/ braid outs, sitting under a drier, blowdrying on cool, etc...). HTHS.

Relaxed heads:

Are any of you using curling irons or flat irons to straighten your hair after a wash? I currently wash my hair once a week and straighten with a curling iron afterwards, and I was thinking about starting to wash twice a week but want to make sure that it's not too much heat. Does anyone who frequently washes use a flat iron/curling iron to straighten?

during the summer I tend to wash everyday. It was good for my hair. I did the co-wash mostly then on the weekend poo and co. My hair grew alot and it was easy to manage. I've learned from lhcf that some of my old regimen were correct. who would have ever tunk. lol

As long as I'm not in braids or twists, I wish (not co-wash, but wash) every day and I've definitely reach six inches in a year. No hair falling out!

This
Week i ve been washing my hair pretty much everyday ,although i feel it's too much ,my hair feels very moisturized ,i do have to use really good ,heavy duty masks in order to keep it soft and supple though. I also used a leave in+mositurizer + light oil.

Yesterday i shampooed with Ors uplift to clarify my scalp as i had build up due to cowashing . I then DC with MyHoneyChild molasses followed by Donna Marie s hair Whip.
This morning i used some hair gelly and pretty much "screwed up " the softness achieved the day before so i pre pooed with Olive,Castor,Shea butter mix ,left it on for 30 mins ,washed with MyHoneychild HoneyNutt scalp cleanser and DC with John Frieda Miracolous Mask . Applied Beautiful textures leave in and DM hair whip . I m letting it air dry now ,'my hair feels soft and silky.
