i've read a lot about coconut oil, but can only find a few things in the archives about almond oil. my stylist recommended that i use it as a prepoo. this is my third time doing this (it's in my hair as i type) and i've gotten great results. i'm going under the dryer tonight with it (fingers crossed). i usually sleep in it and then wash my hair the next day.

i'm wondering if other people use it. if so, how do you use it and how has it worked for you.

tia!:look:

I use it mainly with another oil to seal. I've also put a little in my relaxer before self relaxing.

I use both Sweet Almond oil and Almond oil. I use almond oil to seal after moisturizing (mostly in the summer though, right now I'm using butters to seal). And I use sweet almond oil in some conditioners b/c it's said to soften the hair, which is true! Sweet Almond butter does the same btw.

Hiiiiiii yes i use sweet almond oil . i use it as a moisturizer every other day . I mix it with other things as well . I buy mine from online at different webaites . whoever has it cheap er thats where i buy it from . its very good oil . its the second best oil IMO. The best oil is Coconut oilllllllll.

Yes, I use it for my niece. I use the NOW brand, but I think any brand will work. It makes her hair very soft. I use it as pretreatment and I add to her hair 2x's a week and massage her scalp with it. It's done wonders:).

I use if for me as a leave-in sometimes too.

Thank you great thread, I have been using almond oil for a month now from head to toe. My skin and hair loves it. My cat loves sniffing my skin after I put in on too. LOL I use sweet almond oil after wash/conditioner on my entire head of hair and I use castor oil to seal the ends. My hair is so soft and fluffy. I use the NOW brand. I will need to buy more soon but looking for a less expensive brand. Have not cooked with it yet though.

Update: I think I've found the site (www.nowfoods.com?)

Sorry I missed these posts. I bought a new brand of Sweet Almond Oil today and I LOVE IT! IT SMELLS SO GOOOOOOD! :lick::lick::lick: Not the faint scent of the Now brand, although it's still a nice brand. I like the consistency of the Now brand better I think. It's more watery. This one is a tad bit thicker. This is the oil used in Jergens soap I just know it! Because it smells just like it. :yep: :lick:

The brand name is International Collection here is the website (I also bought Walnut Oil, Grapeseed Oil and Sesamie Oil. The website has a list of stores that carry it.

It's a glass bottle:

Oh man, you guys have got to check out this site, then. Bulk oils for cheap; smallest size available is a gallon :hypnotize: Almond $24, Castor $15, Jojoba $48. Those are per gallon prices. That is not a typo on the castor oil it is that cheap. I haven't ordered from them yet but I will be placing my order, soon. I'll rate them on service, shipping, etc once I do and create a thread.

I have just discovered it! One of my white friends with gorgeous hair and two asian friends (also with gorgeous hair), both recommended sweet almond oil as a strengthening oil for hair, when used as a pre-poo overnight (the unrefined almond oil still contains the nut protein). They used it weekly this way or fortnightly, alternating with EVOO pre-poos.

I use it as a pree-poo and it's great. I prefer using this to using coconut oil as coconut oil makes my hair frizzy.
The next step is to use almond oil to seal my ends too, mixed with avocado oil

What's the name of the site?:drunk:

I Have the NOW Brand and will be incorporating the Sweet Almond along with Several Others into my Fall/Winter Reggie as a HOT!

I did my first HOT on Friday with my Heat Cap, and Now I am HOOKED! :yep:

HOTS will definitely be part of my weekly regimen.

I purchase mine from a seller on Ebay. She makes and sells different types of oils at a reasonable price. I use it mixed in other oils and directly on my hair.

I just started and I was so happy! I have fine hair and I was so glad that I didn't have weighed down hair. And it was shiny shiny shiny. Now I'm looking for an oil mister to put this in.

What is the scent like? I want it very similar to what I have now.

To me, it just smells like oil - with a hint of a nutty scent. The smell disappears quickly though, like most oils.

I have found that the unrefined one is better than the refined almond oil - the refined has hardly any properties and doesn't smell of anything.

I'm in love with almond essence (the natural one), it has a great smell - so I may just put a drop of that in there too!!! Yes, I really would too :spinning:

I use it on my face and it makes my face look smooth and glowy. It also makes my face supple. I was thinking about using it on my hair to seal.

I use the brand in the hispanic section in wal mart. I also seen the same oils in cvs. i think they are pretty cheap and are probably cheaper than the NOW brand.

I bought me some yesterday... Im sealing with it when I airdry

Sooooooooooooooooffftt haaaaaaaaaaaaiiirr lol

I wonder if the organic version has a more almond scent? Have you tried organic. The one I have has a very distinct scent that's addictive. If you just sniff from the bottle you won't smell it but if you put some on your hands then it's the scent hits you and you can't help but smile and hug yourself. But then it fades. :ohwell: I mixed some with coconut oil, castor oil and olive oil. It's a great combo, I used it as an overnight pre-poo treatment. I also but some on my arms and my skin has a sweet scent. :lick:
