I read that avocado is really good for the hair. I don't know why, but I guess it is. Does anyone actually use it?? What are some of the ways that yhou mix it?? How does your hair look afterwards??

Thanx!!!

I've considered it - esp. when I get a 'bad' one, but I'm usually too busy eating those (uncheap) bad boys to put them in my hair.

I've heard really good things about it, though.

I do.
I put it in my leave-ins.
(a bit of conditioner, water and avocado and sweet almond oil)

You can do oil rinses with it I suppose.
It's like shampooing with oil. I think. Here's the thread.

I tried to do an oil rinse and it was good for me. Haven't done it since though.

I use it on my face and hair. It's very light.

>>>reads back of bottle<<<<
It has vitamin a, c and e,

Here's some links.

Never tried any of the butters...:ohwell:

but I'm itching to try the butter (shea, mango and avocado butter)...just to see how I'd like it.

Slightly OT: I just bought the mango butter this week though I haven't tried it yet.

Back OT: All three butters are great for hair and skin IMO :)

Cool.:yep:

Where'd you get it from? From Nature with Love?

I'm just getting into 'oil mixing' and such....and my thing is: What's the difference between the oil and butter?
Is the butter thicker? More concentrated.

I think I'd like the butter much better.
But seems to me like...if you were to melt it down---it'd be similar to an oil?:ohwell:
I dunno....
I'm in the midst of ordering right now . I may order some butter instead of oil tonight.
Just to see...

I do a fresh avocado prepoo every month. I get a ripe avocado (usually about $1 around my way), mash it w/a potato masher and add coconut milk, honey, evoo, evco, and sometimes a spoonful of mayo(if I use mayo, I t/o the leche de coco), stir it all together and apply to my hair w/a plastic cap for about an hour. It stinks, but my hair comes out so soft and shiny!

ETA: Kyna, you got my other baby daddy as your avatar...I don't know how I feel about that lol.

I'd heard that avocado is supposed to be really good for the hair so I bought a couple a few days ago. I just mixed a homemade conditioner using the following:

1 ripe avocado,
a few tbls of mayo
2 tsps of olive oil w/basil
1 tsp of sea salt
1 tsp. of lime juice
3 tsps. of coconut oil
1/2 c of milk

I'm going to leave in my hair w/baggy for 1 hour and then wash out.

I have done the ripe avocado, mixed with olive oil, coconut oil and put on a plastic cap for hours. I won't bother to do it again. My hair was just OK after doing it.

I prefer banana.

Avocado butter is good.

yes I use avocado oil, my hair loves it!

I use it as a sealant, I use it for pre-poo treatments, and add it to my condish mixes.
