As far as my hair is concerned, I cannot say if it is solely the Biotin because I use other growth aids as well. But I do have to trim my nails more often because they grow and grow and grow.
I've heard some complaints about shedding, and some people even had skin breakouts from it, but I have had neither.
Biotin is what got me FINALLY past sl. I have been taking a biotin supplement for a few years now. The prob is everything grows faster so you have to shave, thread, wax more often.
Now I tell ppl all the time...I cant guarantee the same results...I may have just been deficient.
I was using biotin up until a month ago. I decided to stop the use since I broke out very badly. Now, I just take a multi-vitamin that has a minimal amount of biotin in each capsule.
I think I tried years ago when LHCF had the biotin bandwagon. I remember breaking out. I do plan on using multi-vitamins though. I want my hair and nails to start growing again.
I was taking biotin and my hair and nails benefitted from it but my face broke out and had an influx of hair grow on it. I only took them for 30days. Im afraid to revisit although i feel it did help some.
I have been taking biotin on and off for a few years and using it in conjunction with a few other vitamins it has helped tremendously! It has also helped to clear up my acne.
And I now have to pluck my chin... not cool, but worth it for me. lol
It is best to start slow with 1,000mcg and work your way up, and drink tons of water.
Not everyone will have the same results as your body will react differently.
Good luck!
I've been taking Biotin (GNC Brand) for about 9 months or more. I take them consistently, along with a multi, EFA, and garlic.
What I can tell you is that my hair is in better condition, but I don't know if its my gentler handling or a combination of the supplements and vitamins. I'm not certain how Biotin is specifically affecting my hair or if its giving me faster growth.
My fingernails are lovely...I must clip them frequently to keep them at bay. They are stronger too.
I noticed a random pimple or two breakout on my face early on that I'm sure was from the biotin, but I've since begun drinking more water and that has helped.
Oh and yeah, I've got to pluck my chin too...
I probably wouldn't notice the hair benefits of the biotin unless I stopped taking it at this point, but I don't plan to stop.
I took 12000 mg of biotin a day (nature's way) for 5 months with no results. I didnt break out either. I then bought Target brand biotin, 5000 mg. I used it for like 2 weeks because it gave me terrible breakouts
Yes, I take 4000 mcg daily. I've been taking biotin on and off for about 3 years. Not only is it benefiting my hair, but my nails as well. No weird side effects either...
I've been taking HAIRFINITY ( http://www.hairfinity.com/ ) since January. I have put myself on a 1 year Hairfinity challenge. so far my growth has been crazy. I only relax 3 times per year, and my first relaxer for 2012 was in April. Hairfinity had me going crazy with all that NG. Next relaxer for 2012 is in August, and already my NG is a beast!!! I am standing by Hairfinity!!!
I need to get back to taking biotin. I took 3,000 before uping it to 5,000. That coupled with MSM made everything grow faster. I mean everything: nails and hair all over my body plus my skin looked much healthier.
@danibeeja_gyal Ive taken various brands over the years including the GNC brand, right now Im taking Country Life. After reading this thread Im wondering if the biotin has been aggrevating my acne all these years. I know it didnt cause it because Ive always had acne but has it made it worse???? hhmmm....
ETA: I started taking it before I learned how to take care of my hair and I have to say I dont think that it made it any healthier...I just found that it FINALLY began to grow.
