Does anyone know what I can use on my daughter\'s

hair? She is 20 months old and has hair that is similar to Tracy Ross (GirlFriends). I'm not very good at classifying hair types. I can't find anything that will moisturize her hair. It drinks up moisture and within 2 or 3 hours, her hair looks extremely dry. I have avoided all products with mineral oil and petroleum as the main ingredients (found these to be even more drying to her hair) after reading the info here on the board. I've tried creams, including mango butter, but they just sit on top of her hair. Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!!!!

Re: Does anyone know what I can use on my daughter\'s

Hi Longlocks: My daughter is 18mos. and has a very similar hair texture. Cant even cornrow because it just flies away! Anyway, using Adrienne's fave, I use World of Curls curl activator gel in her hair (the one for extra dry hair), or S-Curl activator and I mix these with Hot Six oil or Surge Lotion Potion #9. It works pretty well. Hope that helps.

Teerama,
It does sound like they have the same hair texture; when I braid it, it's so soft that it's hard to make it to the end! Thanks for the info., I have some S-Curl but never thought to use it. Will give it a try tonight!!!!Thanks again!!1

Great, I can get tips too! I recently purchased 'organic kids' range, but it's not as moisturizing as i'd have thought, so i'm going to try teerama's idea.

Nexxus Humectress, or any leave-in cond. should help.

I put Dabur Amla in my daughters hair and let it sit for a few hours. Then I wash it out with a mild shampoo and put Dabur Vatika in it and put it in two braids.
Before her hair was long enough to braid I would shampoo and condition. As a leave in I would mix Suave gel (no alcohol, a soft-hold gel) with Suave coconut conditioner. She had soft, defined curls with no frizz. L'Oreal UnFrizz Taming Creme has a similar result.

Yes, ladies...I have to tell you that for the very first time in her short life, I let her wear her hair out this weekend. I sprayed some s-curl Activator all over her hair, then I put the world of curls gel and the oil in my palms, rubbed them together and passed it through her hair.
I put a ribbon around her head (like a headband) and the hair came through with her beautiful curl pattern (I have 4a hair so I am a bit jealous of hers). Anyway, I said all that to say that it was out ALL DAY and that night it was still soft and moist. I feel like I finally found the help I needed with her hair....Now if only I could get the braids to stay!!!! Oh well, as long as it stays moisturized I think that is more important!

I have heard a lot of good things about s-curl and world of curls on natural hair. I think both contain glycerin.
