Does anyone know about kinky twists

I am thinking about getting my natural hair done in kinky twists for the summer (with the kinky extention hair). I have never had extensions in my hair nor professional braids or twists. I am afraid that this type of hair will be quite drying to my hair, but I LOVE the look of the kinky twists. Any advise on how to care for kinky twists? Thus far, I have been looking at a modified routine of the www.growafrohairlong.com site. What do you all think?

Yes, there are natural places and I have talked to them. But I like to hear the experiences of people on the board. Unfortunately, I don't trust hair stylist so this is a big step for me.
