I have indirectly. I put aloe vera gel curl activator in my hair, and then put the oil on the ends of my hair. But that sounds like a good idea. What kind of aloe vera gel do you mean....like the curl activator kind or the hair gel styling stiff gel?

oh no, saddity... i mean aubrey organics' aloe vera gel....it's the only kind i use....i add it to my leave in, but i have never tried to mix it with oil and apply it to my hair dry....and i was wondering how it would be....

The AV gel I have is already pre mixed with oil, the only thing is it gets sticky after repeated use...

ok... that's interesting to know....thanks....

i will experiment and mix a minute amount of aloe vera gel to my oil formulation.......

I use aloe vera gel, but I never tried to mix it with oil. Sounds like it would be super moisturizing.

I mix it with oil for use on my wet sets because when used alone it can be a little drying.

Sherry I mix some aloe vera gel with castor oil and olive oil and apply to my ends before I put my hair in a baggie. I just take a squirt of aloe vera gel with a squirt of each oil and mix it together in my hands.

sounds good, chica.... and i just want to double check that you do this when your hair is dry.... do you notice a difference in the feel of your hair when you add the aloe gel to your oil mix?????

Yes I add to my hair when it's dry. My hair feels more moisturized when mixing the aloe gel to the oil as opposed to using the oils by themselves.

I used the Lily of the Desert Aloe Vera Gel (I used the edible one as opposed to the 99% one because they recommended that at the Health Food store) alone on my hair and it was a bit drying. I also tried to mix it with shea butter to make shealoe butter but it did not work. They she butter and aloe seperated. What should I do? how else can I use this gel? I don't want to waste it. Thanks.

I do and I like it better this way. When I use aloe vera by itself, it makes my hair so dry and brittle. I don't know why either. And I used all forms of aloe vera and the same thing. When I use coconut oil and aloe vera, my hair retains moisture better. IMO it loosen the curl patter a bit and makes my hair easier to comb.

this is interesting to know, champagne.. and from what i am reading, it seems as if aloe vera gel works better when it's mixed with oil for moisturization purposes(especially on dry hair) ....now i only oil my ends once per week, and they are still so moist when i take them down....it's incredible....

At first I was flabbergasted on why the aloe vera was drying out my hair. Then on accident I added coconut oil and my hair had so much moisture I couldn't believe it. BTW what kind of oils are you using? I'm pretty satisfied with the oils I have now but I'm just curious.

i mix the aloe vera gel with castor, jojoba, rose hip seed, vit e, and olive

I get my lily of the Desert aloe gel from the GNC store in the mall.

What I do is a whole tube of gel (4 ounce) and a half of ounce or one ounce of that hair oil that Nexxus make. I stir it up real good and put in a jar. I sometimes add one drop of Lavender oil for a scent when available.

I use it up a lot because I use it to twist my hair.
