Does anyone go to chain hair cutters for trims?

I've decided not to let hairdressers trim me anymore since I can't retain length that way but I still want to dust my ends and don't trust myself to do it. There is one of those chain haircutteries near me. You know, the types of places usually frequented by white males and females. The one near me is called First Choice Haircutters and they are pretty popular here.I don't want any more off than 1/4 inch. What's everyone's experiences with them?
I really really hate how black salons like to trim to make the hair look more even, even if they have to take off an inch in parts. Do chain hair cutters do that?

I always go there, me and my best friend. (Supercuts). You may be surprised to find that they might do a better job than the beauty shop! What I really like is the way they LISTEN. They cut a little at a time, usually less than what you want, and they kind of show you in the mirror as they go along. If I say an 1/8th of an inch, that's all she'll take off. She usually holds the strands of hair up in the mirror before she trims, and I say "less" or "more".

The other thing about them, or at least the one I go to, is that they can't shampoo, condition, and style your hair. All they can do is shampoo and blow dry. So I just get a dry cut and go home, and do the rest myself.

I have gone to Supercuts also and was impressed with the way they trimmed my hair. A Black girl used to trim my hair and I never had a problem with waiting. I recommend them.

Shunemite beat me to it. She said basically everything I was going to say.

I've never had a problem with my stylist, but when i have micros I normally go to a walk in salon at the mall to get my human hair trimmed. I just ask for a "dry cut" I've had a male and a female do it and they both did a fantastic job.

I've gotten my hair "dry" cut @ supercuts and they really do listen, and it's cheap

hate to be the negative one here, but i hate the hair cuttery. i used to go all the time until this guy chopped off all of my hair. i went in for a trim and he cut about 6-7 inches off and then had the nerve to get an attitude when i complained. he was sneaky about it by having me faced away from the mirror and cutting a little bit at a time. on top fo that, he did it uneven, so i had to go to someone else to correct his mistake. so i went from several inches past bra strap, to a couple inches passed shoulder to the top of my shoulder(this cut was to fix his mistake). i was too pissed and never returned(this was back in my senior or junior yr of high school). i think he did it on purpose b/c when he used to do my hair he'd always complain about it being too long and thick. he just didn't know how to handle my hair. btw, he was black.

Sorry about your experience. I've stuck with the same lady ever since I started trimming for that very reason.... one bad apple that spoils the bunch.

I'd like to go to one... i saw a Hair Cuttery on my way to the mall during the weekend, so I'd like to go for my next trim. I might bring a pic of how i want it cut, maybe some really long bangs or something...
