Does anyone else save their shed hair to try products on?

I've been saving my hair to try various conditioners and things on to see what they are like before I put them all over. I figure you ladies could try that on your relaxers and things too.

Might prevent a few setbacks.

Wow, that's a first. I have never heard of that.
Why wouldn't you use your product on your hair? Unless it's something that alters your hair permanently? You can just rinse it out. No?

uhhh no! lol never heard of that before.

Heard of getting hair out of a comb/brush to try hair dye on. But not products like conditioners. But that could be a good idea for a relaxed person trying out a new relaxer brand!

I have done this for rinses, semi-perm, dye, henna and porosity tests. It has been years since I tested hair colors.

I've done it for henna and color treatments. Otherwise, no, because even though I shed a lot, it's not enough to give me a really 'good' idea of how a product would work.

Nope. I do find that article Nonie posted disgusting LOL. UGh I couldn't imagine wearing hair. *insert barfing smiley*

Nope. Might be a good idea. I'm natural and have very coily hair so it might prove difficult.

This is interesting. I have never even considered this.

Do you have a storage bag full of hair sitting on the shelf with the hair care products?

................:look:................

Isn't the hair dead therefore it won't react the same way as the "living" hair in your head?- Just my thoughts.

All hair is dead. ....:look:

:look:..What I meant was if you pull a strand of hair from your head and apply a product or whatever that supposedly makes hair grow to see if it'll grow your hair..that strand hair isn't going to grow because it's "dead" whereas if it was still attached to your head and that product works the hair on your head will grow.

Well, growth products that actually encourage growth have to act on the scalp and follicle, not the strand, so yes, that would be accurate. :lachen: Ain't nothing gonna make shed hair grow.

JustKiya, your posts almost always make me laugh! You aint ever lied though. lol :)

I do like other ladies said for henna or other treatments. I save hair from my brush or comb a week or so before the treatment but not after every wash

Did ya'll know your sposed to burn your shed/cut hair. It's bad luck to throw it away because it may be picked up by birds...and something about someone will buy or something..:ohwell:..superstition
