Does anyone clip their ends in twists or other methods?

I want to be free of reliance of salons. I was wondering how naturals who cut their own hair does it. I am so happy to be able to learn from the multitude of self-styled ladies . I need all the experience I can get. I also need to learn how to deal with single strand knots.

Hey DD! I've clipped in twists before and loose. There's a thread floating around here somewhere that shows how to self trim. But for the most part I'm a search and destroy kinda gal. I separate my hair into 10-12 twists and one by one I inspect it. I also use Traycee's method where she twists the hair around and snips along side of it. I'm going to try and find it and post it here.

I just did this. I hadn't trimmed in over a year (I know I know don't kill me) and kept putting it off. I twist my hair into about 10 twists and then feel the ends. My ends let me know when they need to be trimmed they are basically dead and yeah I just cut off about 2 spirals. Stretched I cut off about 1 to 1 1/2 inches. This was more drastic then normal for me but I needed a good trim. Twisting my hair is the only way that I trim. However, I don't wear my hair straight so I don't care that its not even, doing it this way doesn't work if you wear your hair straight because its not even.
