Does anybody here use Olive Oil on their head?

YES I DO!! After every CO washI put olive oil onto my damp hair.It has been workinig really well for me ever since I discovered that my hair likes it.

Hi,

Yes. I use extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) everyday. Here is how I use it:

pre-poo: Olive oil, Conditioner, & honey (plastic cap, no heat, for 1 hour)
Deep Conditioner: Queen Helene & Olive oil(plastic cap, no heat, for 30 min.)
Skin: Olive oil, Baking soda, & honey(facial scrub)
Hot Oil Treatment: Twice a month

*I also add this to all my cheepie conditioners*

I  EVOO.

I use EVOO and love it! I mix coconut oil and olive oil as a pre-shampoo treatment and it detangles my hair like a dream!!

I do! My hair loves it. I've used it as a hot oil treatment for years. Sometimes I do it overnight. I think that's why my hair loves Elucence Moisture Balancing so much. When I'm doing any oil mixture, I make sure olive oil is the main one. :)

Me, too! I use olive in my pre-shampoo. I use a base of olive oil, mixed with castor oil and essential oils. It helps with my comb-out. It literally eliminates and disintegrates tangles by softening them. My comb-out is noticeably easier. I put it in my deep conditioner along with a bit of honey. Also, I use olive oil in my conditioner concoction that I spray in my hair daily.

I use it right after my shampoo. If I don't use EVOO I'll use either grapeseed oil or grease. I like the way that it makes my hair feel, this is why I don't use conditioner because it does for me what con does anyways...but that's just me.

5 years ago I was suffering from really bad dandruff & i started using warm olive oil on my scalp to soften the dandruff so that it would wash out easier. Not only did it work wonders, but that's how I found out my hair loves it.

I don't but I did use olive oil on my childrens hair when they were new born on up and even now I have great results. I encourage every one to use it. My mom told me to use it when I was pregnant with my 1st. and I have stuck to it ever since. I have a friend that had a baby whos hair wasn't growing, I told her to use olive oil and she did. That baby's hair is almost sown her back now she is one years old. Olive oil is a good thing.

How do you ladies do this? When I did a prepoo treatment, I felt like I couldn't get it out of my head. Anytime I put oils in my head it leaves this coating on my head that feel awful. :( It also doesnt help my scalp because it seems like I have more buildup. I know that it does work...I just wish it would work on mine. :ohwell:

I use it all the time, to moisturize my ends mostly. I used it as a hot-oil treament also .

I use Olive Oil on my hair, but I don't use the kind you buy from the grocery store. I get the "Hollywood Beauty" brand of Olive Oil that's made for hair. It seems to be doing well. I got it at CVS.

But...SHOULD I be using the olive oil you put in food?? Or...is any brand of Olive Oil fine for your hair? I found that the Olive oil used for food was kind of thick and heavy on my fine strands, and it didn't smell all that nice either. But the "Hollywood Beauty" brand is very light, and has a nice smell to it too.

I buy a huge bottle of evoo and use it in almost all my hair products. When i feel my hair is getting dry due to weather conditions,I do a over night hot oil treatment. My hair loves it!

I used Olive Oil for a hot oil treatment a while back and it dried my hair out something awful. So, I tried it without heating it up and it still dried my hair out so I found out that olive oil is not for me. Honestly, I don't use any oils in my hair, I find that it just weighs your hair down down if you use too much.

I had that same problem when I tried using it about 5 years ago. I tried it as a pre-treatment. I must have used too much because my hair was hard and stiff  . I was put off by it and never tried it again. I'm contemplating trying it on my natural hair, but it will be dropwise!

I'm sort of heavy-handed and have to make sure that I go easy on the oil. I use oil daily on my hair and mostly CO wash, now. I use shampoo once a month, or so. I wash my hair approx. 1 - 2 times a week and sometimes, more.

BTW, I have very thick and coarse hair. I don't know if that makes a difference, or not.

You bet! I use various brands and types of olive oil, right from the grocery store. I learned that a little goes a long way. You can always add some EO to it, also.
