Does anybody follow a "no product" regimen?

The only person I've ever seen on here that does this is Nonie when she is in braids. Well I have never found a leave in that long term makes my hair feel moisturized, soft and tangle free, natural or relaxed. All the leave ins I've ever tried have left my hair either feeling weighed down, greasy, sticky, or like straw.

I've had my yarn braids in for 3 weeks now and I have used no products (meaning leave ins). I wash my scalp once a week, and DC with ORS Replenishing Conditioner twice a week.

Well I took down a few braids along the perimeter that needed re-tightening and the hair is the softest and silkiest it has EVER felt! I can't wait until I am fully natural so I can rock twists again because I'm wondering if this will have the same positive effect with my natural hair.

Am I alone in this experience?

Everyone's hair is different so it may work for you! I know that I have to moisturize my hair at least every other day.

Just be sure to evaluate your hair's health when you take out all of the yarn braids just to make sure it wasn't just your edges that stay silky smooth ( Zohan's voice).

There was a thread asking if people can go without moisturizing their hair, the following people said they could/do:

Except for the really bad winters and during pregnancy I never techinically moisturize. Usually cowashing gets me along just fine I've never had a problem with retaining length excessive dryness or split ends.

"moisturize" as in leave-ins oils and such. No, I do not need it. I do like to experiment with them sometimes, but I do not need it. But, I rinse or wash my hair daily and that seems to be enough. I do not need to add anything afterwards, unless I am wearing my hair out. Then I add something to keep knots from forming.

I rarely do. It doesnt seem to benefit my hair.

@ the bolded-same here. I wet my hair daily in the shower (wash, cowash, or just plain water) and that's my moisturizer. I do however use Sabino to seal in the moisture from my wash but that's it. I don't consider pure cones a moisturizer. I gave up on leave ins and stop using them a month ago. So far this is working out so much better. I have spent so much money on daily moisturizers and none of them can leave my hair half as moisturized as plain old water. Seems to me that as the people with the driest type of hair WE should be the ones wetting it daily.

I don't moisturize. When my hair feels dry I know its time to wash again.

My hair can't take too much products b/c my hair creates its own moisture on its own. Don't let me start eating salmon! My hair will become really oily!

Just read all the posts. Everyone has a different idea of what "moisturizing" means to them. To me shampoo and conditioner and leave in are normal. Yeah technicallt that entire process moisturizes hair. Like someone else mentioned when my hair is dry, it's time to wash. But, when someone asks me about moisturizing I think about maintenance after the shampoo and conditioning process and after hair has dried. Seems like others are thinking of other things.

I don't moisturize. My hair isn't dry...IDK I just listen to my hair and it's doing fine without it. I don't like my hair to feel weighed down.

I did when I was pregnant..nothing kept it soft and moist, it was horrible ...so I went with no product...my hair grew like crazy but could not retain my length...Ahh well..this pregnancy trying to keep moisture in my hair is next to impossible again..but I just keep trying to see what works.

I don't use anything to moisturize. The only 'product' I use is gel to style, and I co wash.

LIke another poster said, different things work for everyone. It seems like the people who don't use products wet or co-wash their hair frequently/daily though. To me that is moisturizing their hair but everyone's definition of moisturizing is different. I wash my hair once a week and moisturize as needed; which is usually daily or every other day. I have to do this or my hair will dry out.

I don't use many products any more because I get horrible build up and a dandruff problem. I use gel once a week when i am refreshing my french twists and that is it. I wash my sclap every day with diluted shampoo. This dilution lasts for two weeks. So I only use a teaspoon of shampoo every two weeks. Then I condition my hair. My hair never feels dry because at night I sleep with a shower cap on and my hair gets a nice steam treatment. So my hair is constantly moisturized. I love not using many products and keeping it simple. My hair has never been so shiny, and I've noticed an increase of elasticity in my hair. I was playing with one of my shed hair in the bathroom for 10 minutes because it was stretchy like a rubber band.

But I wear a wig all of the time. so I'm basically a wash, go, and wig gal. I haven't noticed any ssk's either doing this. My hair is less tangled, and I only loose about a quarter or half dollar size of hair a week, which is when I'm combing and brushing my hair to retwist it.
