I have 4a/b hair :afro:. However, when I sweat.... my hair straightens :hair: or does something:antlers: :locks: . I don't know what.... :hair: But my braids slide out.:locks::hair: :hair: They literally slide allthe way down and slide out. I usually have human hair should I use synthetic.:antlers:

What prevents this?:wallbash:

I am not sure what would prevent that, however I know that for me human hair is easier to take out so it would seem that it slides out easier?!?! I don't know hopefully one of the braid experts will chime in to help you on this one

How long is your hair? I don't think it's possible to prevent the sliding. I have never noticed it any other time except after a wash and when my hair was short like a centimeter or so, the braids would slide all the way off. I don't know if synthetic would work better. Could you cornrow your braids so that the hair is sort of "held" in place? I'm thinking a style like this might help:

or the one below:

The only other thing I can think of is to tie something or wear a cap so the braids are held stationary as you move coz as you sweat, your hair gets slippery and if the braids are being tossed about, then due to gravity they'll make plans to go walkies.

I like how you have these set! Very nice.

Thanks, HoneyDew. I usually wear my hair like that after a wash while it is still damp and can sport that for a day or so; then I undo the cornrows and wear a braid-out when my hair is fully dry. It's a good way to disguise messy braids while one gradually redoes them one at a time.

My braids do that... Mostly around the edges. that's why I don't like to get them. I always used synthetic hair though.

My hair is short. But even when it was like 6 inches all over. It would slide down about an inch.

Thanks Noni.

I have braids in now and I used synthetic hair. I would to use human hair but if it isn't the type used for kinky twists.. i WOULD slide out of my hair.. whether I wash it or not.....
