How am I going to get this big lock out of my head?

The reason I hate getting braids is because my hair locks up when I take them down. I have tried everything to get the tangles out of my hair. However, I have one BIG knot that I cannot get out. I do not want to cut it out. Please tell me what to do?

Is it at the new growth or the entire section of hair?

Saturate your hair in some conditioner and gently pull your hair out of the lock strand by strand. Put your fingers near your scalp and literally grip a strand and gently pull it. It will take about 10-20 minutes depending on how big the lock is. But once you're like 1/2 way thru it the shed hair will losen up and it will get easier.

Don't rush, and stop if you get too tired because you'll likely start ripping it out. Slow and easy.

This happened to my entire hair with my last micros. It was horrible, but my hair was mostly undamaged. Use LOTS of conditioner.

ETA: Use your dominant hand to pull the strand and the other hand to old the dread..like near the middle of the section. Let me know if it works for you.

You need an acidifier like Nexxus Ensure or Porosity Control to help lay down your hair cuticles.

First, I'd remove the strands I can from the tangle SLOWLY. Then, the knots that just won't give, I'd drench in one of the above acidifiers, work it into the tangle, and then, again, SLOWLY pull out the strands of hair from the tangle.

This actually happened to me about 4 years ago. I didn't have to cut my hair. I went to a beautician and he combed out the supper matted clump.

After that point, I started to use the following regimen http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showpost.php?p=1497342&postcount=1 and haven't had that problem since.

Thank you. I will definitely do this the next time I get braids.
