Do you ever feel like giving random people hair adivice? Since joining this forum and learning so much about hair. I am constantly checking out hair. Every time I see some one with limp lifeless hair, I want to run over to them and tell them about this forum. Just wondering if anyone else feels this way?
 
No because people look at me and say OH you got that GOOOD hair what do you know. It just grows and grows and grows.

So I just let it go
 
No.I don't give people advice that they didn't ask for.

If a chewed up-gelled back bun is good enough for them,its good enough for me.

There has been a few times when I was strongly tempted to tell some chicks about this board, though.
 
No... my SIL has a lot of problem growing her hair. The top middle is almost gone. She's always weave-checking people thinking black women can't have hair... The last time I saw her, we eventually went through a hair discussion. I told her "if you really have a problem growing your hair, just tell me I can help you". She said "No thanks. I use the best line in the world (Phyto:rolleyes:) and my hairstylist is the best one in the town, so she knows what she's doing". SILENCE.:ohwell:

Mind you, she's been sporting the same ear length hair for almost 5 years. She used to have SL hair and then lost of all them over excessive abuse. She is a true beleiver in the Stylist-can-save-your-hair philosophy :nono: I am a true beleiver in my-money-better-stays-in-my-pocket philosophy:lachen:
 
Nonono, I would only give advice if I am asked. It would probably sound patronising otherwise, no matter how well meaning I want to be.
 
Here and for my girls - the one time I was asked and offered advice, I was told that as often as I wash and condition my hair and given the "white" products I use it's a wonder I have any hair at all - no more advice giving for me.

I asked for advice from a lady at work about how to wrap because she has very lovely hair - I am wrapping impaired. I roller set my hair the night before, put it in a bun, and took in my denman, my mason pearson combs, phyto 7 leave in, and camellia oil - I did not know what she'd need. She told me the reason I could wrap is because I wait too long between relaxers (10 - 12 weeks) and needed to use black products because I am black. She recommended me to her stylist. I called her and asked about making an appointment and if she would use my phyto - she said "I don't use that foreign junk - it's not for black hair."

If I'm not here on this board, I don't offer, and I don't ask.
 
Yes yes yes. I don't though because I don't know how to say, "you're hair looks so awful, here's a website that can help you get it together."

No one has ever asked me, but if they did I would just tell them to wash their hair more often, forget that gel exists, and to check out this website.
 
The extent of ignorance regarding black (epecially natural) hair is just too much for me to try to take on alone. So I keep my mouth shut or laugh.

I do but my advice is often met with "But you have a different grade of hair than me. I can't do what you do." :perplexed

So now I try to keep my comments to myself.
 
But these same people that DON'T wanna listen don't wanna follow the advice even when they ask for it are still mad and being haters at your head cause you got some hair.

I just let it go But some people I really want to give them the LHCF Web site so they can see. I mean really do ingredients in Products recoil if they touch a black head.

Exactly. I'm not natural but I stretch so long sometimes I can pass for being natural:lol: They probably look at my 4b hair and wouldnt think I know what I'm talking about anyway..

A lot of people are still stuck on the good hair bad hair thing, I dont got time for that.

Plus, I'm still trying to get my hair on track after it was damaged by stylist, so until my hair is healthy I wont say anything.

I actually never talk about hair at all with any of my friends. But in the future if someone ask me for tips, I dont have a problem sharing.
 
no. i'm not tryin to get beat up by some chick with a snatch back thinkin that i think my hair is better than hers. cuz yal know thats what they're gonna think.
 
Oh shoot, i give out advice all the time, my hair has changed (improved) so much in the past few months that most people ask me what am I doing. My neices are my toughest challenge, though. they are in high school and "gots to look good"-ie everyday ceramic use, and gel SMH
 
I want to give advice....in fact I wanted to dump some conditioner on this woman tonight, gorgeous natural hair but just DRY!!! However, I refrained from commenting. Some people can take advice the wrong way, especially unsolicited advice.
 
I try to resist the urge, but when asked I just hand them a post-it with "www.longhaircareforum.com" on it.
