My hair was really dry so I decided to mix some Monoi de Tahiti (needed to get rid of it-the oil turned solid b/c of the cold and I actually prefer it like that. Looked and felt like my coconut oil), Jojoba oil, Rosemary e.o. with my Aubrey Honeysuckle Rose conditioner and left it in for hours. Then I rinsed it out of my hair in the shower with warm/hot water, kinda like an oil rinse?

Feels OK but I still have some conditioner residue on my scalp which is a :nono:. Next time I'll dilute some of my cheapie condish, put in a bottle with a nozzle and pour directly on my scalp, massage a bit without disturbing the braids too much.

This would have been a good time to try the ayurvedic rinses...
The main goal was to restore some moisture, I was about to start a fire with this hur. Also, I want to do a protein treatment before I redo these braids in a couple of weeks thus moisture, moisture, moisture.

How many of you do this or a variation of this and how has it worked for you?

I love Monoi de Tahiti!!!- it is coconut oil- that only comes from a certain region. And infused with scent ( i think the South Pacific)
But for Ayurveda straight Virgin Coconut oil seems to be a winner,
The grow afro hair long site looks really informative and has good suggestions on washing with extensions. But knowing how my hair draws ups when its wet. I dont dare wash not even- co-poo:nono:. Let us know how you did. Im open to changing my opinion.

i wash and deep condition my cornrows as well. I dilute my shampoo( cut with water or liquid aloe vera) and conditioner(add a little liquid aloe vera or glycerin to dilute). I do sit under the dryer with the deep conditioner. HTH.
