Can you deep condition box braids?

Getting ready to wash my box braids and I'm wondering if it's ok to deep condition or steam them. Will the conditioner penetrate fully? Will it wash out completely? Or should I just go for a leave-in and seal with oil.

You can DC. Just use a lighter hand and less product at the roots because it may be harder to rinse. I wear box braids for 4-5 weeks at a time and DC 2x a week with no problem.

I do it all of the time. That's the only way I wash and DC my hair (in cornrows or box braids). Rinse well and you should be okay.
