I faithfully use coconut oil when straightening w/ my maxiglide.

Do you use any oils when you straighten with your flatiron of choice?

Yes, either Wondergro pressing oil or Grow Afro hair Long's Flat iron cream. I don't believe in applying heat without an oil based protectant.

How do you use it?
Are you afraid of Burning your hair????

I think I read somewhere that coconut oil has a high smoke point. I don't burn my hair (at least I smell no burning and my hair is thriving sooo...) thank god!

I just moisturize w/ the oil, then let it airdry, and then maxiglide.

I used to use oil, but now I use CSI. A lot of ladies on here use coconut oil.

It's just like pressing with hair grease back in the day. Nobody's hair was falling out or burnt - it stayed lush and thick as ever.

ETA: Let me correct that and say MY hair never fell out/ became burnt from flat-ironing with oil or pressing with grease when I was natural.

Thanks for your response! :yep:

I used maybe a dime sized amount a coconut oil this time, but I also used my thermasmooth. The coconut oil gave it a nice shine.

I use a dab of coconut oil on my ends while my hair is damp before either rollersetting or blowdrying. Then I flat iron. Never had any problems.

I use Design Essentials Silk Elements or NTM serum.

I dont think I would have that swang with anything heavier...
