Do You Think That I'm Harming My Hair?

I use a pre poo for any shampoo that is not clarifying. The thing is that I put an egg into it. One jar of pre poo treatment lasta me about 2 weeks. I don't want the egg to spoil, so I keep it in the fridge. I apply it to my hair cold.

Is the temparature damaging to my hair in any way? I don't want to let it warm up, then stick it back into the fridge because I'm afraid that it will make it spoil. Should I warm some up in the microwave or something (xtra work that I don't want to do if I don't have to), or is it ok to use it cold?

That's the most important question I have, but I also want to ask:

When you apply a pre poo, do you rinse it first, then apply the shampoo, or do you partially rinse it and apply the shampoo? Or do you even not rinse it and just put the shampoo on top of it? I rinse partially, then shampoo. Just wonerding if I'm doing it right. :)

You are not harming your hair by applying it cold. If you warm up the pre-poo, you'll probably end up cooking the egg...then you'd have to write a thread asking us how to get egg out of your hair! So, in short, it's aight :)

I didn't even think about cooking the egg, lol. Thanks for the reply.

I actually did cook an egg in my hair by mistake (pre-hair board era)

I washed my hair with an egg instead of shampoo and rinsed it with tea. I got those tips from friends.

The egg really seemed to make my hair moist, so I thought... why not use it as a leave in? (this was before I knew what a leave-in even was  )

So, I washed my hair with my egg, used a final rinse it with my cold tea, then applied another whisked egg to my hair.

I then... BLOWDRIED IT.

I had scrambled egg all in my hair :lachen:

Well, I was only 12, so eh... I was halfway retarded.

Sometimes, I mix an egg w/ mayo and use as a protein conditioner. I put what's left in the fridge to keep it from spoiling. I do heat it up in the microwave. I learned to do it just enough to get it warm. A few times I had to pick cooked eggs out of my mix, got frustrated and threw it away.

Usually, when I do pre-treatments, I rinse my hair before the wash, whether it be a shampoo or conditioner wash.

Don't feel bad! My 40 something yr. old aunt called herself conditioning her hair w/ eggs, but, mistakenly rinsed her hair w/ hot water! She had bits of semi-cooked eggs in her hair. Man, oh man, did my aunts and uncles crack! :lachen:
