"Honestly, Truly"
I'm just curious if I'm the only one who has a cupboard full of products, but doesn't *really* know how to use them?

I feel funny asking, because I know people get tired of hearing the same questions over and over again, so I just 'do what I can' and hope for the best!

Anyone else feel this way? Or am I alone :ohwell:

LOL! I dont have loads of stuff and everything has a purpose.

But if you have a question just ask..somebody will answer. Maybe I can help you :)

lol...if i cant figure it out it stays on the shelf...i read the ingredients lists so i have a better idea of wht it will do for me...because the product claims can mean somethin else lol

I have some Salon Selectives Loosely Defined that I am just now understanding how to use (thanks to whoever posted the thread about how Curve does their technique). I also have Aura Elixer that I think will help with my shake and gos.

Thanks for the replies so far!

I guess it's things which I may not know 'when' is the appropriate time to use it.

E.G - I used to use oils on my hair while dry and couldn't understand why my growth was so dry and crispy, till someone told me that you should apply oils on WET hair.

Things like that.

Salerm21, only use a dime size, that doesn't help me at all, barely covers a corner of my head!

oh, see those are directions i just disregard!!!! folks writing the direction to "use a dime sized amount" aint NEVER seen a head like this!!!!! those folks have thin straight hair....you and me? we aint got that....i use MUCH more salerm than that...and i LOVE it!!! its the best detangler my hair has every seen!

I would say I'm pretty clued up now on most of the products that I am using -but that has only come after YEARS of trial and error/ reading hair magazines/reaseraching on the internet and tips and advice from speaking to friends. Even now I still discover things about my hair that I did not know.

I think that as black women, when we first get our hair relaxed we are quite young and very inexperienced and we are often at a loss on how to really look after it. What does not help is neither did our mothers or our mothers mothers or their mothers! I have had my relaxed since I was around 16 and I am now 29 and I am still learning - especially from this board!

Ok, you could always ask on the board or PM people.

Most of the products I presently have or products I have used in the past were recommendations from hair magazines or things I read about on the board or something a friend had recommended or samples of products I've tried.

Anyway, you can always PM me and ask and if I know I'll help because because I've tried a whole heap of products over the years:D

Also, regarding the amount to use for example, I use as much as I need, especially conditioners and moisturizers.

Alot of them have instructions/directions as well, except when it's in a foreign language that you can't understand (Dominican products)

One time I bought some Miss Antilles products at a fair and there was no english on some of the bottles. I was using this one product as a moisturiser until I found out from a friend that it was actually a conditioner that needed to be rinsed out.:look: At which point I had nearly finished using it.
