just curious as I know the long wild hair look is in for boys .. A barber was complaining about how some of the guys look unkempt because they are not keeping their hair cut or keeping it brushed or picked out,

I don't have children. But I plan to keep my sons hair cut pretty short. It just looks neater. He'll have the option of growing it out when he's older. And I'll give himthe side eye then.

I asked ds1 if he wanted to grow his hair out and showed him some pics of boys with longer hair. He said he wants to keep it short. I want him to have a mohawk type cut. Maybe he'll change his mind when he's older.

Eta: i voted "let him decide"

I have 3 boys ages 7, 5 and 1. The oldest 2 let me know if and when they want a haircut. I trim my baby boy's hair every few months.

I have 3 boys: 11, 9 and newborn. I allow my oldest boys to decide on the look they want (one has a mini fro and the other a mohawk) but I make sure to keep it trimmed and tidy by getting their hair cut every 2 weeks.

In EVERY single picture of DS up to age 10 he has a tight fade. I made sure to take him to the barber every two weeks. When he got older, DH said it is DS's job to make sure he gets his hair own cut. Now, at almost 16, fades aren't necessarily tight, but I think I've influenced DS. I tried to get him to grow his hair out just a little, and he won't have it.

All that to say I prefer short cuts, but let him decide.

I have 2 boys 13 & 8 and I let them decide if they want their hair long or short. About 3 years ago they wanted Mohawks so they grew it out. That in turn became cornrows and by the time we cut it last year both of them had hair when stretched easily reach the middle of their backs. Now my 8 year old is wearing a low ceasar and my 13 year old has a taper cut.

I'm pretty sure that if my DS's hair reached this length, he'd have to fight me to get it cut! If I can't have it and he did, I'd make him keep it.

I don't "keep" my son's hair short, BUT it grows out kinda crazy and my barbering skills are not the best...so when it starts to look lopsided...I cut it down. I'd really like it to grow out like a wild mane on his head, but his forehead is so big I have to keep the sides cut low to keep his face from looking like a milk bottle.

Lol!!! Their hair was nice but I would be lying if I said I wasn't happy when they decided they wanted haircuts...cuz nobody was helping me with all that cowashing, deep conditioning and braiding. At least now I'm down to only 2 heads and that fine with me!!!

The longest I let my son go is about 3 weeks without a haircut.. I may let him grow it out in highschool if he keep it neat
