I notice some of the more expensive products are recommended on lhcf. I am the "Queen of Cheap" (Tyra doesn't know me!!) so I look everywhere for a cheaper product that is close to the more expensive product's quality. For instance, some protein treatments I know I can not get, because it isn't in my price range. I also know I'm heavy handed, so I'm not trying to spend $20 on something that will only last a week. :nono: My search for cheaper quality products has been successful so far, but it seems that the more expensive products are still WAY MORE popular on here. I was wondering if you do this. Now, with earrings I do not deny that definitely do this, because I don't like earrings turning green within a week. Do you do this with hair products? If so, why?

i used to judge products based on price then i read this book : "Don't go hair product shopping without me" and i've been cured ever since. Good thing too since i can't afford anything over $5 anyway.

:lachen:...I understand. I had to stop buying certain products.

The best shampoo that I've ever used (and still using ) is the QP Elastra creme conditioning shampoo. And the best part is that it's only $2.99. I also love V05 conditioners which only cost .99.

I don't judge products by their price, but my hair does. j/k :lachen:

I wish cheapies worked for me, but my hair doesn't like most of them. I do buy some cheap stuff like castor oil, henna, and CON poo.

I don't really judge by price, but I have always used salon products because personally I think they are better. Well, that was until I ran across Domincan products.

Was that book by Paula Begoun? I read some of her stuff including "Don't Go To The Cosmetics Counter Without Me" She was on Oprah a few years back and I own 2 of her books. She was the one who made me start reading labels to compare the $20 vs. $2 shampoo, makeup, moisturizers, etc. and knowing what chemicals mean what.

I think that's the key. Just read the label. If it has more than 5 things that are different/not listed then I will consider that in the factor of price. Sometimes you just pay for brand names and the pretty packaging that it comes in.

Yes, to the bolded. :yep:

I don't judge based on price, Trader Joe's shampoo and conditioner is worth more than its $2.50 price! I would be disappointed if they stopped making it.
