Do you have to use heat to get the benefits of Silicon Mix?

I finally jumped on the bandwagon and bought some Silicon Mix last night but I am on a NO Direct Heat Challege. Is it okay to just deep condition with Silicon Mix and not flat iron or blow dry afterwards? Would you recommend a roller set to obtain the highly sought after sleek look. I really just want the moisture, the sleekness would just be an added benefit.

I don't wanna hijack, but may I add onto the question please? Are the benefits of silicon mix purely cosmetic (shine, sleekness) or does it actually moisturize and condition the hair?

I use Silicon Mix when airdrying and it's great. So, for me, I have no need to use direct heat afterward to feel results. I do DC with a plastic cap and a warm towel around my head, though.

It moisturizes and conditions.

Shoot, the moment you put it on you feel your hair soften up...that's why I love this stuff!
Just put on a plastic cap and go do something else for a little while, your body heat will do a DC just as well as a dryer, it just takes a little longer.

I love Silicon Mix and I rarely sit under the dryer to DC w/any conditioner. Most days I'll use it as a semi-leave in and rinse later in the day (see my "New Randomness" Fotki album) I don't use direct heat i.e. flatirons, etc so it really isn't needed to get optimal results (IMO). The Silicon Mix leave in gives me the best rollerset results of any product I've used thus far, but that's just me.

bump!
question?
are you guys using silicon mix to replace hard protein treatment or can it be used weekly?

do you order yours online? No bs has it here in Houston. Atleast not the dozen or so I've been in!

thanks. I was on amazon.com checking out the prices just now! Not bad. I thought this stuff would be expensive with all of the good reviews. Just goes to show expensive is not always better!

This is just a regular deep conditioner, it can be used as often as you like. It doesn't have any protein properties, I would use this after a protein treatment for moisture, and it's good for transitioners, if it agrees with your hair.

*look out for possible build up if used regularly

I just left a beauty supply here in Houston for you Houston ladies who use this and he says he will try and see if this is something they will let him order. He took the name of the company and gave me the store # to call to see what's up! This would be so great! S&H has been kicking my booty!!

For the last five years, I was reluctant to buying it because of shipping. I finally did it last month, and I'll be using it this week.

I already order my primary staples by mail, so that's why I didn't want to order anything else by mail even though most of the reviews are very good.
