Do you find there is not enough Phyto?

I am thinking about relaxing my hair myself this weekend but I am concerned that there might not be enough relaxer in the jar. Has anyone ever experince this with a Phyto relaxer? I remember when RebiaElaine did my hair she was hoping there was enough and it was JUST enough! She was scrapping the sides!

I am thinking about going to the salon because they seem to be able to stretch relaxers. I may be to heavy handed because I do not want to have too much underprocessed hair.

When I did it myself I had to use 2 jars because I was 16 weeks post. When they applied it at the salon, they only used one jar and it left me underprocessed because she didn't use enough I believe.

Really? See Just as I thought. I am over 16 weeks.

Should I get another one? Do you think I can mix Phyto with another relaxer like Organics or something?

I don't recommend mixing to different relaxers.:nono: You don't know what extra stuff they put in each one. One may have more oil in it than the other and may cause you to overprocess, underprocess, not process at all or just burn you really bad and I know you don't want that. If you are going to use two relaxers, use two of the same ones. That way you kinda know what you are getting, JMO.

At 16 weeks post, I use one jar of Phyto.. In June of 2008, I'll be 14 months post and I'm still gonna use 1 jar.

I did a 47 week stretch and foolishly thought I'd have enough relaxer. NOT!
I ran out right at the hairline. It worked out because I don't like the hairline too straight anyway, but next time I'll get two or not stretch so long.

The point is I almost made it using only one kit w/ 6 inches of NG.

I'm 6 months post and I use 1.5 jars. You gotta be generous with the application or it may be underprocessed.

I've relaxed at eight months post and had enough - I almost ran out though. I was a little heavy handed with the application of the first section and since I relaxed and rinsed out in sections, I wasn't able to "Borrow" from the sections that I used extra on. It never looks like you have a lot initially but once you mix the activator with it and let it sit for while it swells. I think you should be fine but it wouldn't hurt to have a back up if you're really worried about this.

I went on the phytospecific website because I've been thinking about changing relaxers. It says that it's not recommended for chemically treated hair. Is that just a disclaimer or would it not be a good idea to use it being that I've been using motions.

Sounds like a plan.

I'm kinda on the bald headed side....so I only need a 1/2 a jar....
:ohwell:

*but please remember....stop the Phyto hype in '08, '09...sorry, I had to get it in. It's my mission to save heads from dryness....*

I last relaxed in June and am hoping to do my NG again either in dec or early Jan, and I know I will need two jars because of the thickness of my hair, the several inches of NG I have and because I like it straight I apply it generously.

I wont ever be changing from Phyto it makes my hair dry (a little bit) but nuthin a DC wont cure and a good oil soaking helps too!
I personally think its practically impossible for me to damage my hair with phyto.

Let us know how it goes.

Uzz

Can Phyto be mixed with EVOO or some other oil to increase the amount in the jar? Or will doing that negatively effect the relaxing process? I'm planning on relaxing with Phyto after my 9 month stretch next month and I'd like to stick with 1 jar... What do you ladies think?

Hey girl! How you doin!

To answer your question, yes I find that Phyto does not have enough creme (for my hair). My new growth comes in very thick, and the first time I used it, I had to use the whole jar. It still wasn't enough, and left me underprocssed.

I still half a jar if you want me to send it to you...I'm not using Phyto anymore, it makes my hair dry. It's been sitting in my closet since May 07, so I don't know how good/bad that is...maybe someone can jump in and let you know if it's still good?

OT: I'm going to get my hair relaxed this morning, and I am a nervous wreck. I'll pm u when I update my fotki. Lemme know if you want the Phyto!

Yeah, I don't recommend that either but I always notice that even my hair stylist underestimates how much relaxer to use in my hair. He always has to go and mix up some more. Ok, that was his first time but still you'd think stylist know how much to judge when mixing relaxers.

Everytime I used ORS relaxer there was never enough. I had went without a relaxer for about 9 months and it was only enough for 1/4 of my head.:perplexed

I relax every 12 weeks and I use half of a jar. My hair don't grow that much and that relaxer is too expensive.

My bad -- AFter reading all the posts, I've decided that I better use 2 boxes to relax my hair after my 14 month stretch. I definnitely want straight hair and I'm usually heavy handed so I better order me another box.

When you mix oil with a relaxer it weakens the effectiveness of it. A lot of people do this when they want to texturize their hair as opposed to fully relaxing it.

My last relaxer was at 12 weeks and I just managed to get by with my usual 1/2 jar. I add 2 tsp of Aphogee EFA to the phyto, but it doesn't necessarily stretch it. Mona....does this mean I'm baldheaded???

:lachen: U r so silly......

Nah chica....u r far from baldheaded. U know I  your thick hair...

I just saw Keen  (let me find out Keen is a hair cousin) .... so I guess that makes three of us in the 1/2 jar of Phytorelaxer using club...

OT - I am getting a better understanding of one of the reasons I always read about PR being expensive to use...folks are using whole jars, jar and a half, two jars ....wowwww...

*...but hopefully the cost will play into driving down the Phyto hype....*

Bless y'all. You're definitely worth it though!:yep:
