As though it might not work as well without the other "half"?

I used to feel this way, however, as a result of this board I realized that you don't always have to do it. I do believe that with some product lines you get the full effects when buying both the shampoo and co-ordinating conditioner...it just depends.

Whaddaya think?

Keracare detangling hydrating shampoo is moisturizing and I'm glad I bought it with the Keracare humecto.

Clairol Renewal 5X shampoo for dry/damaged hair is murderous and strips the hair, but the CR5X conditioner for dry/damaged hair strengthens and the CR5X daily nourishment moisturizer is an awesome follow up.

not at all... i think the KeraCare shampoo and conditioner that i use are the exception to the rule. any other time i've tried a shampoo and conditioner by the same company, i either liked one or the other, not both...

I do think it depends.
Shampoo/conditoner pair I love :
Jason Naturals Sea Kelp
Sebastian laminates
Kenra Moisturizing.

Shampoo/conditoner pair I can do without:
Love Cream of nature shampoo, but the conditoner, not so much

I've been using Keracare humecto after the dry itchy scalp shampoo, I think I may try it with the keracare detangling shampoo and I'll get better results.

Tracyannette - I love jason sea kelp too, isn't the conditioner yummy!

Yes, it is so thick and super moisturizing, and only 3.99 for about 16oz. I will always keep this in my shower!

I do believe they're made to compliment each other, but, like others have already said, one or the other in the pair may not work as well on your hair.

I had a tendency to buy both and was and products were
filling up my cabinets and I would end up tossing half
of the shampoo's out.

The Bumble and Bumble Gentle Shamoo by itself is okay but it is great when you combine it with the Super Rich Conditioner.

I tend to purchase the companion shampoo and moisturizing treatment.
Right now, I use Kenra Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioning Treatment. They work well together.

Nope. A lot of shampoos strip my hair but their conditioners work wonderfully.

I used to buy and even use pairs. Now, I tend not to do so. I use a variety of haircare lines.

I read somewhere on line that most product lines are built around one outstanding product and the rest in the line are just so-so. So after that I started looking for the outstanding product by each maker and leaving the rest alone.
