Do we really need these expensive flatirons?

I think in some cases you get what you pay for. If you get a cheap flatiron, in most cases it my not have the technology needed to keep you hair healthy with continual use. That is why I am going to invest in a more expensive flatiron. It will be worth it in the long run because it will not contribution to damaging my hair.

I have an expensive CHI which I really like but I still love my $9.99 Conair ceramic flat iron that zi got at walmart. It works really well but it is not as sturdy and it will break faster and you'll need a new one. The more expensive ones are built better. but I like the results of both cheap and expensive.

I cosign on this completely. I have the 1" Candy Apple Red Andis. I don't use my maxiglide either. It looks scary. I'm sending it back. I've had the Andis for about two years and the coating is starting to come off the plates. I'll gladly replace the $40 Andis.

ETA: The Andis is unbelievabe on DD's APL, 4A, dense, all naturale hair! I used a Gold N' Hot Ceramic (because the Andis plates have lost their coating) on DD for Easter...it was NO COMPARISON!

i think the more expensive flat irons are well worth the money. they're not as damaging to your hair, last longer, and i believe produce better results! i bought a cheap revlon one once because i forgot my CHI and i returned it the very next day. you could hear my hair snapping as i glided the revlon iron along my hair !!!! i think that's a major plus for me. the more expensive ones don't snag your hair at least IMO. the revlon iron didn't even come close to comparing to the high-end flat irons. if you flat iron your hair at least once a month, i look at an expensive flat iron as a great investment!

My CHI keeps my hair straight until I decide to wash again for the most part, and my hair moves and is shiny and doesn't break when I use it like it used to.

My roomie's Revlon WannaBeCHI smokes when she plugs it in, and she uses it on her hair at least 2x between washes because her hair reverts. The smoke coming out of it is so obvious


Why use something that hints that its going to catch on fire? I would invest in something expensive instead of replacing something semi expensive. $120 for a few years is better than $50 every year or 6 months
