I love your answer Metamorfhosis! Whether or not someone has a "contract" with the Devil is not of our concern. In fact, God tells us in
Matthew 6:25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? 28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.
Some things, are just out of your hands. Let God make decisions about who is following Him and who is not. If anything, ask God how He can use you to show HIS WAY to others, especially the "wicked" (which I put in quotation marks b/c none of us are w/o sin)!
But to answer your question, I really believe that even though you think someone "always gets their way," in my personal experience, NO ONE gets everything, nor is ANYONE ALWAYS SUCCESSFUL.
God knows EVERYTHING. He created us. He knows EVERYTHING about us. He knows our every thought, in fact He knew every decision we would make and every wrong turn we would take before we were born. Trust me when I tell you, God deals with ALL OF US, BOTH BELIEVERS AND NON-BELIEVERS (WHETHER IT APPEARS THAT WAY TO YOU OR NOT)! WHY IS IT YOUR CONCERN THAT OTHERS PAY FOR THEIR WRONG? FOCUS ON YOUR INDIVIDUAL WALK AND RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. Trust me, GOD DEALS WITH EVERYONE, but not necessarily in the same way. Some people he deals with privately, b/c truthfully, that's the best way they will learn the lesson he wants to teach them.
You don't know what goes on in anyone's life but your own, that's why it says "don't worry." You may look at someone who you think never suffers, but you don't really know. Maybe they have a lot of money, maybe they are really mean, but only God knows the full story. Maybe they aren't mean, but maybe they are a hurting human being who suffered abuse or something like that, so now they are very guarded with people, to the point that they seem mean. You may believe they DESERVE to "get theirs," but only God knows the full story. OR, maybe they are really evil/mean, and God is dealing with them in a different way. ONLY GOD KNOWS! Some people that seem like everything is going their way are TRULY suffering in silence. Some people you think are just going along w/no consequences have illnesses no one knows about, they are severely depressed, their business will collapse in the future, their family hates them, they want to commit suicide, they are secretly in debt, they get death threats. There are a plethora of things that "could be." Or, maybe worse. Maybe life does seem to be going along perfectly, and they continue to be mean/evil to others, not having any idea what lies ahead. What you must realize is that we never see more than a glimpse or what I call a "snapshot" into someone else's life. You will never know the full picture of anyone's life but your own. Even when someone seems evil or disrespectful, only GOD SEES ALL!
Further OP, the difference between God and us, is that God doesn't exact revenge/vengeance in the same way we do, nor does He get a "thrill" when His children (which would be EVERY life ever created) fall. Although we must hate sin, we are to love the sinner. There is a reason for that, and it's because GOD LOVES US, despite our shortcomings and sin! Unlike us, God wants to win ALL HUMAN BEINGS. Do you really think God likes the idea of Satan? Do you really think God likes the idea of something He created ending up in Hell? This is the reason for Jesus! This is the reason we must love our "enemies." God will fight for us until our last breath, when we can no longer fight! And this is the attitude more Christians are supposed to have, but unfortunately, few of us do! For example, if you gave your best friend a pair of beautiful, flawless diamond earrings, you know your intent for her to use that wonderful gift. But technically, doesn't she have the right to "chuck" that gift in the river? Couldn't she choose instead to pawn those earrings for some money? How would this make you feel? I think you'd feel bad and a little upset that she threw the gift you intended for her to enjoy and instead "chucked it." That's how I imagine God feels when we take the life and the beautiful Earth He gave us, and treat it like garbage and treat His fellow children like garbage. He probably feels hurt! So, you can imagine why instead he would want to save all souls!
GOD LOVES US ALL! God's revenge/vengeance isn't for His pleasure, it's to discipline us and show us just how much HE LOVES US! For example, when you were a child, your mother/parent might have said "
MizzBrown, don't touch the stove!" Now, you may have believed that your mom was just saying this to make you feel bad or b/c she didn't want you to have fun. But as an adult, you can appreciate why your mother would tell you that (she didn't want you to get burned). It's the same thing with God. I always say, the more we listen to God, the louder His voice is to us, and we can hear Him. The less we listen, the voice often gets softer, but it's always there. There are people in this world who are very distant from God. Maybe they do get caught up in the "world's ways," but if anything, your prayer should be that God work in their lives to bring them home. And b/c God knows their hearts so well, HE KNOWS WHY THEY ARE DISTANT FROM HIM, AND I BELIEVE HE DEALS WITH THEM ACCORDINGLY!
Look at the story of the prodigal son. God cheers when an unbeliever returns. And this is the attitude we must take! We shouldn't cheer when others fall, nor should we cheer at the thought of others being in "cohoots" with the Devil. In fact, it should sadden us
Finally, why some people are successful again shouldn't be your concern. God loves ALL of His children, and will continue to bless them, even when they aren't perfectly on His path. If He didn't do this, none of us would be here, since we are all sinners/imperfect!
Sorry this post is a little "fiery," but I really felt it had to be written just as it was! The Holy Spirit really came over me!
