Do Oils And Butters Really Seal The Hair? Loc Lco

I went to curlyfest and had a chat with some hair professionals. They told me oil doesn't seal the hair it just lubricates it. What do you guys think??

Idk but I don't believe coconut oil does. It seems like a moisturizer & detangle basically. Also the "loc method" doesn't make sense to me, "lco" is more logical for the intended purpose.

But anyway, everyone claims to be an "expert". From my experience black hairstylists are the least knowledgeable about hair no shade but shade. I learned about hair from paying attention to my own hair for the past 3 years

My hair stays moisturized longer when I use butter after moisturizing my damp hair with a water based moisturizer. That is all I can vouch for for my hair.

Oils do not seal my hair but butters do slow the moisture evaporating process.

Oil does nothing for my hair. But Shea butter did. So butter to me seals and oil just makes my hair feel...oily

I agree butters are better. Oils just lubricate my 4c strands.
