Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Anti Frizz Serum is HIGHLY flammable and it is not on the warning label! It hits home for me because i have some sitting in my product cabinet and was going to use it!

A 13 year old girl was set on fire when using this product!

Nubenap22 she used a straightening comb before as i have also in the past. This has never happened to me with any products i used. Most straightening combs are heated over a stove

This I know but you always run the risk of burning yourself those lil sizzles add up. But say that sizzle caught up and its in the environment of a GAS means fumes are in the air

And I'm not siding with Garnier Fructis but they make their product for WHITE people. I am sure they didn't have a hotcomb up in the test room on a dummies head while doing experiments *look*.

I'm pretty sure it is labelled as high flammable? I remember grabbing it in the store, reading that on the label, plus the ingredients, and realized it was just a pretty flamethrower. I might be wrong though since my memory's not that great.

I get what you're saying, but white people use heat and flat irons too - all the time.

I can see how this mistake could have happened. Since many serums are good for heat styling, she probably thought she was adding a layer of protection on her hair. Poor thing.

True true BUT when white people use heat styling tools such as flatirons and blow dryers the temps average range are from 200 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit in ELECTRIC heat. A hot comb on a GAS stove (I am sure she used the fire top range) can reach temperatures up to 3000 degrees Fahrenheit on the flame. Don't act like you never seen a hot comb turn red like hot coals and lava with the wood handle smoking!! White people don't know nothin’ about that kind of heat girl! So using it on their product in any trail testing probably was non existent.

In the video that was linked, it said the product "can ignite at temperatures above 171 degrees". Its not just a "black hair care" problem. I never seen anyone use pressing combs and irons above 450-500 degrees and still have hair on their heads.

However, having said that, we should teach our young ladies how to read labels and also a previous poster was correct: not all serums are created for the same purpose even if the ingredients look the same. Some are not heat protectants.

I feel bad for her. In the old days, we just suffered from the slight ear burns from the comb or the rite of passage curling iron burn on the forehead.
