My local courthouse had a clinic where they discussed the filing out the paperwork. I filed mine this past week. I will say that if you have property and/or child support that needs to be finalized prior to you filing or you will probably need a lawyer. I would suggest you looking to see if your local courthouse has a self serve department that might offer the same thing.
I did the entire process myself but it was simple because we had no children or property together and we both wanted out. MD divorce laws and processes made it very easy to diy.
My brother did it in Texas several years ago. He bought a book that had all of the paperwork and filed it himself. It was easy because they didn't have children - only a house and two vehicles. He completed it in about 3 months time and spent about $300.

I don't know the name of the book, but if you google non contested divorce in Texas, they have free places to get you started. I was going this route but someone is being Mr. Not Nice or fair guy, so contested divorce is what I'm doing.
