Do i add Amla or Shikakai powder to wet hair?

i'm about to use this powder as a clarifier....need a fast response.

I added mine to wet hair. I used it right after I washed it. It will proabably spread better on wet than it will on dry hair. Its going to feel somewhat astringent going on, but when you rinse it your hair will be very soft.
