Do hair rinses harm hair?

I'm thinking about putting a rinse in my hair but I don't know if it'll dry my hair out or make it more prone to break. Any does anybody know if it is a good or bad idea?

DYE dries your hair-yuck. Rinses are great :woot: They give you the color but could be compared more to a stain rather than actually changing your hair color. I do rinses alot. I use Revlon Jazzing in various shades of red-cherry cola, wine, wtc. It's like putting Kool aid in your hair. If you're looking to go blonde its not the way to go but if you want to just shake things up, go ahead. I do it maybe once every six weeks. I wash, towel dry, place the rinse in, cover with a cap, sit under the dryer for 1/2 hr, wash out then style. Be careful about drips-if you get any around the edge it can be easily taken off with a little toner such as seabreeze on a cotton ball. You can even just do a clear rinse to seal and coat the hair-give it a little shine. Best of all if you hate the color it rinses out in a few 'poos...happy rinsing

I am not to sure about the Jazzing Rinses. The blue black one caused my hair to break horribly. I literally clogged the drain in my shower when I had that one so be careful.

They are safe. I use Sebastions.
Co-signing. I was afraid to use permanent colors, because I saw what they did to my friends hair. My stylist talked me into first using Jazzing, then I switched to Sebastian and love it.

If I ever decided to not have color anymore, I would continue using Sebastian clear colourshines, because it really does condition and give my hair some blinding shine.

Where do you get the Sebastians? Can you get it from Walgreens?

No I had the hardest time finding it in most salons. I ordered mine from sleekhair.com and had a good experience with them ( wrote a review in on the vendor board).

you can also add conditioner to your rinse and then add it to your hair, put the plastic cap on and sit under the dryer. My hair dresser use to do this all the time, and my color looked really great and shiny.

Does anyone have any experience dealing with Adore hair color? I read that it has no ammonia, peroxide, or alcohol.

My mom use Adore, her hair is pretty healthy, i used it once when i wanted a new color in my hair, it works fine to me.

I plan on getting a texturizer touch-up in April at a hair salon after not going to one in 4 years and I am scared!!! But that is beside the point. :) What I want to know is if I can get my Colourshine Rinse put in my hair the same day that I go to get my texturizer touchup or should I wait??? If I wait...then how long should I wait??

Thanks

Yes you can. I applied my first one right after I relaxed!:yep:

I just don't care for Jazzing. I think that they are cheaply made. I like the Clairol Radiance semi-permanent in clear though

Thanks for the tip Karezone. I haven't used a rinse in my hair yet but now I know to avoid this one.

Has anyone tried the Clairol Natural Instints line. I believe that is semi-permanant and has no ammonia. They have a color I really like so I was wondering if anyone had any experiences good or bad.

I recently started using Adore in Mahogany and it comes out great.. a nice deep plumish red. It hasn't caused any damage and it's been 2 weeks since the last time I used it and the color hasn't even started to fade.

WOW I'm learning so much. I heard great things about that Adore's Crystal Clear and Sebastians Cellophane. Hmmm, has anyone mixed cellophanes?

GREAT THREAD!!! Wow, learn something new everyday.... I had no idea that you guys did rinses by yourselves. I had a few rinses by my stylist but they were too expensive and she only did the highlights. i'm going to try to experiment and do one myself, once i get my touch-up.

I got a rinse put on my hair last week when I got my relaxer in black cherry, I think it was Dark and Lovely and it came out very nice, even one of my male friends asked what I did to my hair because it was so smooth and shiny ....made my day..

Only if they contain ammonia and/or peroxide. Those two can lead to dryness and breakage, which is why I switched to a permanent hair color that doesn't contain chemicals. I like rinses...they just don't last long, and its a hassel for me to re-apply so frequently. Clairol Jazzing is a bad line of rinses...but Beautiful Collection, Posner, and Sebastian has nice rinses.
