Divorce Partys(will you?)

I had planned on it, but haven't gotten around to it. It seems kind of taboo and although I will probably still go out with those whi helped me through it, I think the best celebration will be each and every success from the day my divorce finalized and just being a survivor, if that makes sense.

:yep:

I celebrated, but uhmmm :giggle: ... I did NOT wait until the divorce was final to start celebrating  :woot::reddancer: . I did NOT see a reason to wait :lachen: I was WAAAAYYYYY tooooo happy for it to be over as soon as possible.

I celebrated, but not at a party. I wanted to do an Irish jig six months later when I did my taxes at the local HR Block.

Do people give u the sideeye for being happy about it? I know I have gotten looks for not being all broken down, but I'm like if you only knew the half, you'd be happy too!!

NO No and NOOOOO!

Those that know the entire story and EVERYTHING that happened were happy as “heck” for me and hoping that it would’ve happened a lot sooner. Being out of it feels too good to waste time being sad about it.

Hey Ladies,
Yes, I'm definitely planning on celebrating with a party. I'm thinking Pole Dance class, then out to the club, or something like that. IDK. I'll call it (stealing from RHOA's Sheree) an Independence or Freedom party or something.

I've been through a lot, it's taken me a long time to get here. I'm at the point when I can truly say I'm excited to finally be legally divorced. Even though I've been separated for two years, I haven't really been able to allow myself to date. So, the legality, will truly open a new chapter in my life that I'm excited about and want to share with my friends.

I don't know if people necessarily give me the side eye, but I do notice that everybody keeps asking me if i'm ok, how do i feel, etc. etc. like I'm all broken up over getting divorced. I'm fine and at peace with it.

When did we get this forum?

No, I didn't.

I actually requested one, based on all the threads I was seeing in the relationship forum regarding divorce, and once I found myself at the beginning of one I was searching for some supportive threads, resources, etc. and thought it would be good if everything had its own forum.

I didn't, but I was happy as heck. I received my decree on my birthday. Talk about a great birthday present.

wow....that's crazy!!!

One of my clients told me she was going to throw me a divorce party. I didn't realize it was so common. If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take for you to get your decree? Did you file uncontested? You can PM me if you'd like.

My divorce is uncontested, I'm waiting for the decree any day now.

I will not have a divorce party. Although, I have moved on and am blessed tremendously, divorce is NOT something to celebrate IMHO and feels like a death of sorts if you will. If another person chooses to, that's fine for them.

If he would have cooperated it would have been 90 days in PA. After 2 years I would not have needed his signature. He finally signed 1 week short of the 2 year point. I received my decree 2 weeks after that. He didn't contest he was just being a simpleton in his own way. He did apologize later for being an a$$ and that he should have done it sooner.

I would have a party but I don't know if I am going to. I may just take a much needed extended trip while he keeps the kids.

A divorce party would be the same as having an engagement party jbut ust the opposite. Some people are happy to get a divorce so why not have a party.

Short story

A friend of mines threw a party. And when I say we partied, it had to be over 100 people at her house. I was exremely happy for her. When I tell you he use to whoop on her something terrible, he did. Words can not describe how he physically damaged her. She suffered from low self esteem, she was exremely overweight, etc. When we met, I was (and still am) a gym rat, so she would ask me questions on how to lose weight, etc. At that time, I had no idea what she was going through until I decided to call her one day to see how she was coming along with her workout routine.

Well, that is when I found out about the abuse. After many drinks and newport one hunnits and "it's going to work itself out...you'll know when you've had enough" type of speeches from me, she saw the light, but on her own time.

Girlfriend lost ALL that weight (after she finally put him out), got the divorce and chile, that party lasted all weekend long. Seriously.

Guess what?

What goes around, comes around. He's suffering for it now. (health wise and financially -- word is he has Cancer) Guess who he had to call on? Keep in mind they've been divorced for 5 years now.

Too late now...she basically told him to tell his story walkin chile....

I celebrated HARD. I had a 4 day long celebration in Vegas with my former bridesmaids. I figured if they were by my side for the nuptials they would be there for the divorce. :)

I just got an email posting DIVORCE CAKES!! After looking at the cakes I am thinking I just might have to have me a divorce party after all!!! (and invite my brides maides!)

I am not tech savy so I dont know how to post pics on here, but you can just do a google search for "divorce cakes" and you'll be amazed at what you see!
