Okay so its been almost 4 months since my last trim, and I was almost 100% certain I would have grown two inches!!!
Well here are my comparison pics and that is hardly the case. However, one side of my hair seems signficantly longer... i hope that was just the result of a head tilt!!
Well I dont know... should I get trims? I mean my ends needed them!
I take all these gosh darn vitamins, baggy my ends, I've been drinking more water.... and I dont know, it doesnt seem to be working. I have gotten no where since I joined LHCF!!
Geez!!

Happy Holidays everyone!

If your hair is at the same point post trim after 4months of your last one then your hair is indeed growing.

How much did you trim off?

it looked like he did about an 1/2 inch
he did it so fast...but definitely about that much
so i thought i would have 1.5 inches more you know?
i mean my ends were horrible, so it was fine with me, no sense in having long raggedy hair with straggily ends

If your hair grows slower than the average 1/2 inch per month and trim around every quarter or so you're not going to maintain much length that you've gained. It all depends on what's important to you though. At the moment a deep trim or blunt cut isn't important to me till I hit around BSL, plus I'm growing out a colour that broke my hair off. I'm glad I didn't chop it off because it eventually caught up with the rest of the hair.

Maybe your hair periodically needs a dusting and not a trim. How do you wear your hair usually. I find the need for a trim to be minimal if I have a protective style or braids so i just don't have to look at it. Girl I know how you feel. I was tired of looking at my hair and the ends and have braided it up for most of the year and not even relaxed it in 6 months. I've just left it, popped my pills and taken care of the scalp and sprayed it when necessary. The new growth is no joke. Sometimes just leaving it to do it's own thing can work wonders and takes the edge off the need for trims and watching to see how much it's grown.

I do see a difference though, it's definitely thicker and fuller especially around the sides. Post trim it is a tad longer.

Girl stay away from those scissor happy stylists, he/she did a nice cut on your hair though.

It looks like a little more of your shoulder blade is covered in the second picture.

To me, the first pic looks like it was blown out a bit straighter than the second pic. Your extra length could be in there, but shrunken up. Your hair looks very thick and healthy and you are doing a good job of maintaining it:)

yeah the hair on your second pic is lower down on your shoulder blades. I see some growth. Plus it doesnt look bone straight to me so it would be hard to tell. You can really tell the difference when the hair is bone straight or stretched.

I will say one thing.....If your thickness was for sale, I'd be buying!

It looks bigger to me. Some people's healthy hair shows lots of volume first and then length later.

well i just do twist and cornrows, rarely buns
and ive really been trying to maintain my ends
i dont know how to dust myself thats why i just go to the scissorman
but im like hey if i need it go ahead, its just discouraging
and thank you for the compliments and comments!!

All you wonderful ladies
I feel like such a brat and here you are complimenting me on my slow growing hair!!
Well I am grateful for the thickness and even more grateful for the time everyone took to comment
Have a wonderful holiday everyone!

And thank you again, I do feel a ton better!!
I guess my shoulder blades are more covered
But heres the question, do I go back for a trim when my ends need it?

OMG girl! Your hair is gorgeous and thick! You inspired me when I saw yr pics. I love the way you have a variety of styles and that helps me to keep trying.

It looks like you prob did retain about 1 1/2-2 inches after that trim. It's definitely not the same length. You can just look at where your hair is touching your shoulder and see that it's longer in the dec. pic.

The ladies are right, you do have progress. In the second pic your hair is covering your shoulder blades more. That's how I measure my hair(by looking at my shoulder blades) don't give up give it a little more time and your hair is going to take off:)

Whatyou talkin' 'bout Willis?

Your hair has grown thicker and longer--like the other ladies said--look at the shoulder blades. Keep in mind also that you have only been doing this for four months. It takes some of us that long to solidify a regimen. Try not to think about how much length you have and judge your overall hair health. That has helped me a lot since I tend to be a slow grower.

hhg and happy holidays!

Nothing happens overnight. Your hair is very thick and looks strong. Keep doing what your doing and moisterizing well so that you don't need so many trims- if done too often they can hinder your progress:)

Girl you are getting some progress like others have said your hair is covering more of your shoulder blades in the second pic
but as the saying goes a wached pot never boils

Oh and about the scissorman...You say that you protective style and baggy and there is a four month difference in the pics you posted
To me your ends did not look bad in the first place to get a 1/2in trim
if your are natural and mostly do protective styles you should not have to trim your hair that much IMO. If you want to see some serious progress lay off the professional trims and dust your self WHEN YOU NEED TO
You can dust yourself by cuting the very ends off twist

Well the first pic is when I first got the trim, over that time span my ends were a bit raggedy

And I am so nervous about dusting it myself but I think I might consider this

Thanks everyone again!!
I do see a difference now that I look at my shoulder blades!! (even though it looks like I have some lopsided growth or a lopsided stylist)
Thanks everyone for pointing that out!!
I guess 4 months doesnt give you 4 inches... well at least not me like I hoped

And also, I think you ladies are right about the trims
I may need to just snip my twists every couple of months
But sometimes I am so afraid that my ends will just get worst if I dont go get them trimmed (there are so many different theories on splits)

I guess I will just persevere...

Thanks again!
I cant say it enough, you guys have really made me feel alot better.

B/c I was finna go back to that hot comb
