Did I lose all of my progress?

I got a weave last October. Until then, I was a relaxed head. After some overprocessing and breakage, Mr. Weave was very attractive.

In a word, the weave is HOT in the summertime. So, I wanted to see how long my hair was. Two months ago, it was at my collarbone in the back and layered on the sides. I was happy with the length but, put the weave back in. Friday, I took it out. I made an appt at JCPenney to have my hair relaxed.

When I made it to the appointment, I was a bit dismayed to find they lied about the types of relaxers they have in stock. They did not have my beloved affirm. They had Mizani Dry hair and sensitive scalp. I decided to give it a try.

There was no burning, which was rare for me. The stylist even applied to my most resistant spots first. However, I also let her add a semipermanent color. Two problems: my hair is really dry and she burned some of my precious strands.

I've heard for years that affirm was drying. My hair was always dry because I abused the iron. So, not sure if it is dry from the relaxing and color or just naturally dry. I've put a lot of jojoba oil in it and just put it in a bun.

I know that when she was curling my hair, she said something about the iron being too hot but, I was trying not to cringe as the lack of professionalism in the other stylists. Well, when I made it home and ran my fingers through my hair, about 10 strands fell out. They were all the same length and had the singed look--I know they were burned. Now, I'm trying to decide whether to find a hairstyle and get a good cut or go back to extensions.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for reading my novel,

That sounds like a lot done to your hair in a short period of time.

If I were you, I would do my own hair for awhile. Do some conditioner washes, throw it in a ponytail or bun, and put a head band on for added cuteness.

Sounds like you need to leave your hair alone for awhile, IMHO.

mommy, I'm sorry to hear about this. It breaks my heart. I agree to leave the hair alone for a while. You just baby it til no end. Don't do anything else drastic right now, just take care of it and let it gro.

Girl do not go back to that place at all. Get a trim to maybe even the hair up and get a thick rich moisturizing conditioner. Baby your hair as suggested before, do a roller wrap, low pony or something low to maintain to give it growth spurts back.

I would wash my hair right away, use a deep moisturizing conditioner, airdry and wear my hair in a bun for the next three weeks, maybe even baggy.

Deep condition...get Castor oil mixed with coconut oil, to stop further breakage..give the locks some well needed TLC.

Thanks so much for your replies. I'm babying the hair. Just frustrated and it's been so long since I actually took care of my hair. I have to say that I am thisclose to getting at least some of the weave put back in.

I did a trim of at least an inch in the back and a slight dusting all over. Feels much better and is not so dry anymore. Tomorrow, I will do a deep condition with a heat cap (Lord knows I have some conditioners and oils up in here). I've got to grow the sides. My hair is so thin (always has been thin) that I just need that to grow for fullness.

Thanks again for the replies,

Mel:D
