I got a weave last October. Until then, I was a relaxed head. After some overprocessing and breakage, Mr. Weave was very attractive.
In a word, the weave is HOT in the summertime. So, I wanted to see how long my hair was. Two months ago, it was at my collarbone in the back and layered on the sides. I was happy with the length but, put the weave back in. Friday, I took it out. I made an appt at JCPenney to have my hair relaxed.
When I made it to the appointment, I was a bit dismayed to find they lied about the types of relaxers they have in stock. They did not have my beloved affirm. They had Mizani Dry hair and sensitive scalp. I decided to give it a try.
There was no burning, which was rare for me. The stylist even applied to my most resistant spots first. However, I also let her add a semipermanent color. Two problems: my hair is really dry and she burned some of my precious strands.
I've heard for years that affirm was drying. My hair was always dry because I abused the iron. So, not sure if it is dry from the relaxing and color or just naturally dry. I've put a lot of jojoba oil in it and just put it in a bun.
I know that when she was curling my hair, she said something about the iron being too hot but, I was trying not to cringe as the lack of professionalism in the other stylists. Well, when I made it home and ran my fingers through my hair, about 10 strands fell out. They were all the same length and had the singed look--I know they were burned. Now, I'm trying to decide whether to find a hairstyle and get a good cut or go back to extensions.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for reading my novel,
