any faster than if you didn't use it? For instance, did you go really fast from APL to BSL because of either one? I'm trying to decide if it is worth me buying. TIA.

I don't have any pictures to show my progress but it has been significant. I had cut about 5 inches off my hair (why, I don't know) in January and it has all grown back and then some. I was putting off my APL goal to concentrate on getting my hair thicker but the BT has gotten me well on my way. I really noticed it when I did my last touch up, 3 weeks ago. I have a few more inches to reach APL. I already can feel my new growth.

You should do a search because there are a lot of threads with progress pics that will help you make up your mind. There are some great results out there.

I did a search for you - http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=120177&highlight=Boundless+Tresses

This has over 200 responses.

Yes. But, it was hard for me to use it consistanty because of the oily" smell of BT. honestly, i got faster growth with co-washing everyday.:ohwell: Anyone want to buy it off of me? Can you co-wash/airdry everyday and use BT? (Boy, that will be a runny mess)

I think that MTG helped me move past shoulder length. I used it 3 times weekly for 2 months and gained an inch and a half or so.

I am going to be honest here.

I really don't think you have to use those products unless you are having some kind of hair/scalp problem.

Actually, my hair has progressed more since I STOPPED using such products.

I shampoo and condition my hair bi-weekly and as I apply my leave in, Sidr Tree Butter Balm, I also massage my scalp with it. I think these scalp massages and maintaining a clean healthy have contributed to my progress and the health of my hair WAY more than the growth aids.

But, you won't know if you don't try right? I don't see anything wrong with trying to see how it works for you, because many ladies are raving about the faster growth they are getting. Personally my NG at 4 weeks is not that much different now than when I used growth aids, but my hair, which I happen to wear down, styles better and is more predictable WITHOUT the topical products.

MTG is really all I know so it's not a fair comp w. BT. I got great growth with it, but I could not use it in public. That is why I'm going to try BT. I mixed MTG, frenchee, and glover's for my stinky challenge. It works great, but it is very stinky.

I've used a bottle of BT, and it did help speed up my hair growth. Right now I'm just waiting on my 2nd order of BT so that I can get back to growing. I've lost out on too many weeks of hair growing, so I'm sure that when I do receive it, my hair growth will speed back up in no-time.

I've been thinking about out ordering some MTG also.

I credit BT for thickening up my hair, its the only thing Ive been doing consistently. I mean I have hair just built up on my scalp and I have to do REAL comb outs very often now. I havent done a true length test (a press) , but Im sure that is translating into growth and my hair looks way fuller when I comb it out and my puff and bun are bigger.

I read most of the old thread, and there were many nice testimonies about BT; but I notice that no one had true comparison pictures of say : This is how much growth I got in a 3-month period without using BT/ And this is how much growth I got in a 3-month period using BT. If someone has true comparison pics of how BT fast-forwarded their normal hair growth, I think that would really help others to see how miraculous BT is.

Absolutely. This is the kind of information that I am interested in. I hear great things about MTG but I am honestly very apprehensive to try it. I am having a hard time with the smell thing. I made my own sulfur mix and my scalp didn't like it too much anyway. So there you have it.

Honeydew: I "hear" what your saying. I get pretty good growth with just the basic stuff that I do and here lately my scalp has been irritated from trying too many new things at one time. I think I'll just stick with my basic regime of keeping my scalp clean and healthy.

BT is definitely a BIG help. I don't have any recent pics but my cousin saw my hair down yesterday and she said, "Oh my god, you hair is getting so long and it is so thick!". The smell can be a bother sometimes but I use some Carol's Daughter Hair Balm (smells great) and I am good to go.

I feel that I didn't reach some of my hair goals because of MTG. It did have new growth sprouting out, but it made my hair so dry. I was at the beginning of my hair journey and I couldn't handle moisturizing that mess I made at all.

I've tried both. Unfortunately I don't think I can give a fair response. I started using MTG when I first started growing out my relaxer (2005) so I saw amazing growth. Now that my hair is almost completely natural, and I wear it in wng, it is hard to tell how much progress I am really seeing with BT.

I agree with you on this. I know that growth aids make hair grow faster because I have used them (once with my own sulfur concoction and few rounds with with MN), but I have never used them for long periods of time.

Now, that I don't use them, over a 2 month period, to my surprise, my growth is averaging out at the same rate! My NG is not as noticeable as soon after a touch up as before, maybe a week longer, but my hair is growing really well without ANY growth aids or anything.

I do massage my scalp, I don't have any prior growth or scalp problems and hair has always grown pretty well. (I have just been greedy :nono:

I really don't think the topical aids, in the long run, are really necessary or beneficial for everyone.

It would be good to see a 3 month comparison to be sure. The braid and cornrow testimonies are nice to see, though. I think those give a good idea of the growth rate.

Edited to add:

Where my hair is at 5 weeks right now as far as NG is concerned, is the same way it was at 3 weeks with my sulfur stuff (and MN - they worked about the same for me). 2 weeks? not that major if I have to deal with oiliness, odor, dryness, etc.

Girl, I feel the same way about stuff I used. It was going more harm than good as far as daily styling and moisture were concerned.

I tried MTG. It worked really well, I plan to revisit soon. I did notice my hair was drier when I used it. I would condition wash every morning, apply MTG with an applicator bottle to my scalp only to combat the dryness.

I've used MTG and BT...

My hair rate increased a little bit. But the thing that worked the best was a clean scalp, firsh oil, less heat, regular exercise and more water (half my body weight in ounces). That did it I tell ya!

Also, I have dry scalp and flakes sometimes, so the water really did the trick. It also cleared up my skin (along with Clearisil but that's a different topic).

I think growth aids help...but they aren't really worth the money if you are doing the maintenance for healthy hair growth.

i had a look on the www.growthspecifics.com and there was a testimony of someone who showed a picture of how her hair grew w/o any aids and how it did with BT... it was pretty impressive I thought.
Can't remember who the testimony was by though

I am in the 2007 Bootcamp Challenge, which is broken into three 4-month sessions. I posted progress pictures at the end of April, then started using BT (somehat sporadically) about a week after the first session ended. I am using it about every other day now and plan to post pictures at the end of August.

MTG works for me but I haven't taken pics. :ohwell: Recently I suffered some damage from a stylist and had cut at least an inch. Using MTG has helped me gain that inch back. I don't take pics because I don't use it consistently (Plus I'm lazy and other reasons). However, folks comment on my growth when I use MTG.

ITA. This is my philosophy also.(HEALTHY BODY=HEALTHY HAIR) Nothing works better FOR ME than the old fashioned basics. Keeping your body healthy automatically keeps the hair healthy.
Thank you ladies for all of your responses.

I have both BT & MTG. However, I've only tried one application of BT and only used MTG for about a month. I can't really say it's made a difference for me. Maybe I didn't use it long enough, but I get pretty good growth anyway. One thing I can say is that the growth I've had over the past month or so has come in a bit thicker.
