There were a couple of ladies on this site who said they only detangle in the shower under running water. I have been doing this for the past two weeks and it is a GODSEND! :yep:

My new growth is so off the chain (almost 2 inches) and I was going to break down and relax early but this is allowing me to strecth longer.

I co wash every other day with Aveda Brilliant and make sure i saturate the NG, then I rinse and detangle under running water with a seamless comb.

My hair is pulled back into a ponytail with so many waves it will make you sea sick!

Just thought i'd share. Don't sleep on this method.

Get it girl

Beware. This method does not work out in the long term for thin/fine relaxed heads.

My hair eventually began to thin out and I couldn't figure out why.
:perplexed It then dawned on me that the weight of the water while detangling was helping to snap the delicate strands.

I stopped immediately and after 6 months the difference is noticeable; I notice my hair thickening back up. I only detangle on damp hair (not under running water) and that works for me.

I am happy it does work for naturals and others with stronger hair! It was a good method for me at first as well.

Go Ladies!

This makes stretching so much easier in my opinion. I would always mix together my own DC, and then carefully comb out the DC with a jilbere shower comb while smoothing with one hand under the flow of water. It made it possible for me to airdry which I thought was amazing. I think the ingredients in my DC helped also - I always added porosity control and before I put in braids I started using honey as well. Great results every time!

YESS! This works wonders for my hair too!

I agree with the warning for fine-haired relaxed ladies though. I agree...I think that TOO much handling or detangling of the hair under running water can be a bit much. In the past I was shampooing once a week, and co-washing once all in the SAME week. My hair was thriving and moisturized, but eventually, I think I started to lose hair in the shower. I think it ended up doing more damage than good.

Now days, I think I'll alternate weeks with doing a co-wash one week, and a shampoo the following week, and just alternate that way. Because my hair is fine in texture, I have to make sure not to manipulate it TOO much.

Plus, if you're not using a seamless comb, this can also tear your hair out under the water.

But overall, detangling in the shower is a blessing! :yep: It's the only way I can stretch for long periods without my new growth going crazy on me. haha
