Detangling brush or Comb.. How do you detangle?

I am a relaxed head. I wait until my hair is completely dry before I even attempt to detangle. I detangle first with my fingers and then I use a plastic old school Pick. That is what works for me.

Natural.

My main detangle on conditioner soaked hair - wide tooth rake, normal tooth detangler, Denman. Secondary detangling on partially dry hair, normal tooth. Final detangling on dry hair, rattail comb.

ETA: Ah, forgot about the initial detangling with my fingers. :yep:

Relaxed.

I NEVER detangle with brush....my hair would be jacked. I detangle with my jilbere shower comb while in the shower allowing the running water to help.

I’m natural and my process is wetting and adding condis to my hair and detangle as much as I can w/ my fingers. I then separate my hair into sections and let it sit for 15- 1hr. I then, use 3 different combs first my Jibere (sp) and 2nd my k cutter and then a rattail. I do this to cut back on breakage and to take out as much dead hair as I can.

Thanks for posting ladies. Im trying to find the best methods to detangle because I lose so much hair during the detangling process its unbelievable..

i'm a relaxed head by the way

just this week, i discovered how amazingly EASY it is to detangle in the shower under running water!! before, i'd do so on damp hair. i lost a bit more hair than i'd prefer using that method. but i am SOOOO pleased with how easily the comb glides through my hair under running water!

i use a shower comb; brand name Annie. i also use the comb to style.

How do you detangle now?

Is it shed hair, or breakage?

How do you normally wear your hair?

What do you do to it on a daily basis?

I start out by making sure there are no tangles prior to washing my hair. Afterwards, I use my Jilbere shower comb.

First I wash my hair in a manner to minimize tangling. In sections, using balls of my fingers against scalp only and not moving liberally around my head like a white girl.

Second, I have worked hard to get my hair in shape so that it doesn't tangle -- as much anyway. I coat hair regularly with protein treatments to smooth the cuticle and to allow for deeper DC pentration.

I always comb my hair in sections. Never in bulk.

I'm natural. Here is what helps me to detangle,

Wash Phase:
First, I massage wash my scalp not my hair.
I do lightly run my fingers over my hair with a light amount of moisturizing shampoo.
In the shower I just let the water run over my hair,
parting hair down the middle for better access.

Conditioning Phase:
I make sure that I use 2 types of conditioners.
The first is a cream rinse to smooth the cuticle and the other is an intense moisturizing conditioner.
Before i jump out of the shower, for the final time,
I always leave a small amount of conditioner on my hair.
I add my moisturizer and castor oil
I do a combination of finger detangle, comb detangle by sections.
Then put my hair in either twists or bantu knots.

(Sometimes I use my denman brush but rarely now, it takes too much of my hair out. I only use it when I feel the moiturizer has not blended well with the oil, or I'm trying to smooth each section of hair.)

I'm a natural head and detangle my hair in sections under running water as I am rinsing the DC out. I use my Denman brush to detangle. I am addicted to this brush. If I can't find it, I'd rather not even wash my hair. I will admit, it takes out a lot of hair but hey, if it's meant to come out, it's meant to come out! Now breakage it another issue- which i have tons of because my ends are damaged....

I only wash in sectioned braids. I usually don't wear my hair out. But - If I need to - I detangle with a Super detangler... Then I am good to hit the showers.

How do you detangle now?

Is it shed hair, or breakage? I think its both

How do you normally wear your hair? I detangle before I wash in the shower and comb with a shower comb after I Dc

Ive been buns and braidouts for the past 3 weeks

It depends on how tangled my hair is.

If my hair gets extremely tangled during the wash, I will detangle while rinsing out the conditioner (under running water) with the jilbere shower comb.

If my hair is barely tangled, I use a wide tooth comb after I put in my leave in.

No matter what method I use I always start detangling at the ends of my hair and work my way up to the roots.
