denman defines ends of coils but nothing else?

I seem to have this love hate relationship with my denman. It really does wonders for detangling my hair but i noticed that it only defines the ends of my hair. I will have these perfect coils, sprials, and waves at the bottom but it spreads out the length and takes away all the coils. Anyone else have this problem? Anything I can do to fix that?

I have the D-3 btw

I cannot help you. I have the same problem too so I only use it to detangle and get rid of shed hair. My hair curls up better when I do not comb or brush my hair.

I have this problem too. When I'm done detangling with the Denman, I separate my hair into sections and use Terri's smoothing technique with either KCCC or Darcy's Botanicals Coiling Jelly, and I get stupidly amazing definition :yep:.

This is how the denman works for me if I just use it for detangling. When I am using it for styling I have to have enough product (gel or pudding) and then I have to take small sections at a time and shingle it through to get definition from root to tip on all parts of my hair.

Yeah same problem here. but I dont even try to define curls anymore. IT is amazing for detangling though. It gets rid of all of the shedded hair

LOL. Me too. It detangles well, but it won't define anything but the ends and the 2 inches of "roots" are left poofy.

I've never used a denman, but if I wanted to define my curls, the last thing i'd do is run a brush through it.

If you want definition, I'd say re-soak your hair after detangling and shingle

I noticed the same thing, but my hair is alos a different texture at the ends than the root. I am transitioning, the tex-laxed ends are coiled, the rest of the hair is just detangled. I am using the D-31 (not D-3, the D-31 and D-41 are for "afro-textured" hair)

I did some research today and I discovered that the D41 might suit my hair much better. Since the rows are wider it might help eliminate this problem and make it easier for me to detangle. I ordered one today. I hope it works. Thanks
