Den, congrats are in order, and your hair is beautiful. I would've never imagine that you grew your hair so fast since March. And your curls are lovely!! I sure hope you keep maintaining that head of yours. You are truly an inspiration to all of us here. BTW, thanx for the advice on suggesting Fiberguard for my color-treated hair. I'm going to pick some up soon. Continue much success on your hair, Den. /images/graemlins/rosebud.gif God Bless.

Thanks girl /images/graemlins/wink.gif, the Fiberguard is so supposed to be good for colored or damaged hair, i personally didn't like it because it left my coarse 4a hair underprocessed. I know Ishevonne a member here, has good results with this relaxer. Good luck!!! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I like affirm original better than fiberguard also.
Den,
was your fiberguard the one you have to mix? If so, that was a no lye relaxer and that would explain why you didn't like it. When i used no lye my hair was underprocessed, dry, and tangled. I know that no lye leaves a calcium buildup on your hair which causes that. Fiberguard comes in lye, and no lye... http://www.avlon.com/science/fibre.html
Re: Den1s!!!Glorious UPDATE \"My hair has grown back\" pics too
I believe i used lye version, i didn't like it because it left my hair underprocessed, the first time my hair felt softer and quite nice left on for 5 minutes, three weeks later my hair started reverting. I went back for a corrective it made my hair curly, but didn't process the back sections enough, since then i had problems with dryness and matting, but i think its more to do with inconsistent textures. its okay for people who want to soften their hair or those with fine textured hair, colored or damaged hair, but my hair is resistant and thick, too GENTLE for my hair so it wasn't wise to stick with it.

I have to say that you did an unbelievable job doing the corrective relaxer. That can be SO hard to do. Lots of stylists don't even know how to do them right. I still can't get over how breaktaking your hair looks. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Thanks Tai, I did lots of strand tests as curlycurly had recommended, then I took the plunge, i almost chickened out, i'm glad i didn't. I can't belive how much better all my conditioners are working, plus the moisture levels are great in my hair, it doesn't really tangle anymore. Thank God /images/graemlins/grin.gif
Re: Den1s!!!Glorious UPDATE \"My hair has grown back\" pics too
I would like to thank everyone for the overwhelming positive responses and support. Good Luck!!! on all your hair goals and thank-you for keeping me inspired.
Re: Den1s!!!Glorious UPDATE \"My hair has grown back\" pics too
Your hair is beautiful and very thick, but please don't thin it out. I know that there are salons who will do that for you, but as we age our hair gets thinner anyway. Your hair is a blessing, please don't thin it.

Thanks Elizablue, i'm going to look for products to temporarily decrease the volume of my hair, so far i have purchased Biolage ultra hydrayting balm..
Re: Den1s!!!Glorious UPDATE \"My hair has grown back\" pics too
I'm going back into cornrows in two days time, i'll be wearing them for 6 months off and on, my next relaxer won't be until Feb/March 2005. Wish me luck, i hope to reach waist length by then. Thanks again everyone.

Just looked at your pics - gorgeous curls. I'm glad you are happy with your results. Just goes to show you that things work out better if you just do it yourself.
