I may have my hair straightened with a flat-iron for the first time in 13 years this week

and I need some recommendations on great heat protectants, I have breakthru heat protecting foam, I used it on my sisters hair and it didn't offer much protection, it was just like pouring foaming water on the hair. I'm really quite nervous

as I have never worn my hair straight since the start of my hair growth journey in 2001, so wish me luck and keep your suggestions coming in. Oh and my hairdresser appointment is on Friday Thanks in advance.

I like Elasta QP Mango Butter as a heat protectant, but it's a little on the thick side, so you can't use too much. I also have flat ironed with Biosilk Silk Therapy, but I don't know if this is a heat "protectant". The results were fabulous though. HTH.

Thanks for your suggestion Thicknbeautiful. I have some Elasta QP Mango Butter, I didn't know that it was a heat protectant, I think i need to read my product labels more often. Mmm biosilk, I've never heard of and I'm unsure as to whether it is avaliable in London.

How much did J'van tell you? I normally pay £53. Is this not about average? Do you know what the going rate is elsewhere? I know that there are salons in Central London that charge over £80

J-van also told me £53. My old stylist charged £35-40. So long as my hair comes out as desired, It'll be worth the price. I hope he doesn't decide to up the price when he sees the ton of hair I have

Hi Sithembile

J'van is my hairdresser. I have known him now for nearly 10 years and he is (IMHO) very good. If you want his tel no. let know.
