Definition of a \"trim\"...

This is something that my stylist didn't know. Oh boy. She said she was going to trim my ends and I was fine with that because she had never trimmed my hair excessively. My middle of the neck hair went from down there to about an inch below my earlobe.

I am beyond words because I had been working so hard on nursing my hair back to health after a bad sew-in weave experience. My hair was growing and healthy. It's still healthy and I do admit my ends look better but I just want my hair back!!!

I don't think I can ever trust another hairstylist again. So ladies, I need your help. I'd be very appreciative if you can help get my growth back on the right track after this devastating chop. My hair has very minimal breakage as long as I keep it moisturized daily. I make sure I keep my ends sealed. I have been using Wild Growth Oil for a few months and as much as I hate the smell, it does wonders for my hair. I'm open to anything and everything at this point. Please give me your tried and true hair growth methods! I have learned so much from all of you already and I feel like this is really a chance to see how much my hair can grow. I'm trying to look at the situation in a positive light and am just thinking of how long and healthy my hair will be 6 months to a year from now. I need your support....

Re: Definition of a \"trim\"...

Hi. It is the summer time and your hair will grow back in a vengence. I think my hair grew about 3 inches over the summer. I too have a Scissor-Happy Stylist that I need to fire. I was just to sad about other issues to tell her to stop. I am positive that I will bounce back from this, I have before and you will too!

The only times that she did not cut my hair was when I TOLD her not to cut it before I even sat in the chair. I slipped once and lost over 2 1/2 inches.

Tell her. or fire her

Oh, I'm definitely not going back for a long time and if I do, she will not hold a blade to my hair AT ALL!!! I am glad because it is summer and I am just hoping it grows like nothing I've ever seen before. How did you get yours to grow back fast?

Re: Definition of a \"trim\"...

...this is why I refuse to let another stylist put scissors in my hair...everytime I see a stylist with a pair of scissors, I guess I get flashbacks or something...
ohwell.gif
I'd rather invest in my own pair of scissors and just snip off split ends as I see them...

However, I'll probably get a trim at my next touch up in July if I get the courage...

...probably not..

Re: Definition of a \"trim\"...

When I get my touchup I am going to tell my stylist very firmly not to trim my hair. You just have to be firm with them. It's your hair and you should definitely have the last say about what happens to it.

Re: Definition of a \"trim\"...

I have never gotten trim from a stylist. Just a hair cut style once or twice. When my mom used to trim my hair, it would be like 2-3 times a year! My ends were never in bad shape even when using a curling iron but I think curling irons made my hair stay the same shoulder length hair.

Well I cut my hair in Oct 2003 to mid-neck length and stopped using curling irons around December. I think not using the irons has contributed to my hair growth. From Oct 2003 to now, my hair went from mid-neck to 1 inch passed my shoulder. Also during that time, I was taking Super Hair Energizer Vitamins off and on, because sometimes I would slack on ordering them. My hair still looks short in the back even though it touches the top of my back, maybe its because I have a long neck and my hair is thin. I cant wait to see how long my hair will be this Oct. 2004!

Re: Definition of a \"trim\"...

a trim is however much YOU say it is. if you say 1/4 inch, it's 1/4 inch. If you say "take 1/2 inch of the bottom" then the trim is SUPPOSED to be for 1/2 inch taken off the bottom. Unfortunately most stylists seemed to fail the units and measurements part of math so unless youre ready to stand your ground or fight in the middle of the shop...i say trim your own ends or if you have a sister and you trust her in your hair (or even your mom) let them do it. My sister dusts my ends for me like every 8 months and i wouldnt have it any other way. good luck and you will get your length back in no time

That's my plan for my next touchup (in August) too.

This will be a first, but I'm not going to let him talk me into a trim!!

(I just hope my ends aren't terrible by then, cuz then I'll feel like an idiot telling him not to trim it...

Re: Definition of a \"trim\"...

I definetly understand what you are going through. I just broke away from my scissor happy stylist a month ago, she just KEPT cutting my hair, i couldn't take it. I agree with what Katie said.
