After each shampoo every week, I put conditioner on my wet hair and let it sit while I shower, then once showering is done I rinse it out. That's ALL the conditioning my hair gets until retouch time, when my stylist does what I think is deep conditioning after she washes out the relaxer (because she slathers something on it and I sit for nearly a half-hour before she washes it out before sticking me under the dryer).

When I asked for a DC recommendation, my stylist said she had a good one but I could only get it from her and she didn't know of any good ones I could find in the BSS's and that perhaps the store clerk could recommend something. (I'm like, "Are you serious??")

Mind you, this was after our conversation on me considering relaxing my own hair and her response which immediately brought that exchange to an immediate halt. So I didn't push the issue any further, thinking that perhaps I hurt her feelings.

So I'm asking the ladies of LHCF for a little assistance. (My stylist did rule out Motions--said it leaves a film.)

My hair is medium-fine. My stylist said I need only deep condition every other week (as well as shampoo, which surprised the heck out of me because I'd told her on numerous occasions that I wash weekly and she never said anything).

For those who reply, I thank you for sharing.

i'll chime in cuz i believe my hair is fine to medium fine, right now i'm on a joico high and i love their intense hydrater it makes my hair really soft and smells good, i also tried and enjoyed NTM deep recovery mask-smells good, elasta qp drp-11-smells real good. i've tried and did not like pantene relaxed and natural mask, ORS replenishing pack- a lot of ladies have tried and liked these two but for me personally they did nothing, hope that helped

p.s. i shampoo and deep condition once a week, sitting with a plastic cap for an hour without heat or 30 mins with heat

I dumped my stylist almost 2 years ago :look:. My hair is kind of fine so it gets weighed down easily. My deep conditioner of choice right now is Matrix Hydrating Balm, which I first bought at JC Penny but have also found at Target.

The ORS Replen pack is cheap and really good too (easy to find), and AO Honeysuckle Rose is uber moisturizing. I wash and deep condition twice a week, always putting a baggie on my head under heat for 15-20 minutes or as long as I can go without heat. DCing is what turned my hair around when I began DIY.:yep:

Thanks for the info, Ladies. :-)

I was told if you DC more frequently than every other week, you're overdoing it. I never DC'd, so this is a first for me.

I DC once a week...and I've head/read people doing it 2-3 times a week. IDK.. but my hair is loving the once a week.

@ the bolded. This is not true. I DC 3xs a week. My hair is loving it. You can try 2xs a week and go from there. Cholesterol conditioners (any kind) are using good deep conditioners. You also need to determine whether your hair does better if you DC with heat or sleep in it overnight.

I use KeraCare Humecto (in the tub, must be in the tub!)

I'm also a fan of Design Essentials Stimulations Conditioner. It tingles.

I DC with every wash (about once a week). This has worked wonders for me over the years. For an extra good DC, try adding in a little oil (only a LITTLE since you have fine hair) and sitting under the dryer.

Co-signing on the AO Honeysuckle rose.. I love it. I also use a little as my leave-in too.

Yup...Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Moisturizing Conditioner is da bomb!! I DC with it weekly, I also add coconut oil, jojoba oil, and sweet almond oil, mix it lovely together and then sit w/heat under a cap.....mmmmmmmmm:lick::lick:

i was a lustrasilk cholesterol fan (bought it at wal mart) till i discovered kenra mc (purchased at trade secret). that stuff is great. i shampoo once a week and DC twice a week since i joined the DC challenge. i have definitely noticed a difference in the health of my hair; there are LOTS of things i do where i can't tell if they make a difference or not but this is not one of them. i would highly suggest at least reading the first few pages of the DC challenge (it is probably too long to read the whole thing)because Aggie and some of the other veterans have great info in there on why you should DC and of course there are lots of brand suggestions given all the different people in the challenge.

HTH...good luck with your hair/stylist!

No this is not true. My hair is fine also and deep conditioning weekly greatly improves my hairs conndition. I hardly have to moisturize during the week now unless is a super cold/ dry winter season. This is the reason I think some women have dryer hair than they really should, no deep conditioning or infrequent deep conditioning.

I have tried and liked Loreal Mega Moisture Conditioner as a deep conditioner. I would repurchase it more often but the container is kind of small so I don't buy it often. I haven't found too many good deep conditioners in beauty supply stores so I usually use Curls Ecstasy Asian Tea Deep Conditioner.

WHAT???? Who told you that crap!!!!

LAWD..........

I am sure you have lots of suggestions here - But I like Aubrey Organics GBP condish....
Frequent conditioning will do nothing but HELP your hair...
And - DUMP the stylist.
