Dealing With Liars and Those Who Profess Falsely Against You

Well, I'm free and living my life but there is a certain amount of contact I maintain with my ex because of the kids. So, my question is for scripture that comes to mind for protection and comfort in the case of friends and even family who regularly hear lies and false witness against you..and believe it! I'm learning of some horrible things being said against me by my ex that my son informs me on, who is there for the summer. Some of these people certainly knew me and were close to me. All of a sudden, they went against me (I'm aware it's because of him looking to secure sides) and shut me out. I left them alone and just lived my life but now the ex is talking junk about my son in front of these same people. It's getting back at me yet he remarried recently. I don't get it. Even the last time I talked with him, he was going on and on about our marriage and why I left him. But he's REMARRIED! I reminded him he should be concerned about his new wife. :look::look::look:

The big kick in my tuchis today was finding out what people were saying and thinking about me - that I left him to marry somebody in this city and that it didn't work out, as well as other filthy stuff and about finances. WTshell?!!!!! Give me some scriptures of comfort because G-d knows what caliber person I am. If they lie on me, they are lying on G-d because He told me to bail. He blessed me, gave me an apparition of Him a few years ago of blessing me and I told Him I would follow His lead. :nono::nono: Why do people do this? I need a cyber hug as well! A good name is what I was raised on and I do not comprehend this level of evil speech :cry2:and revenge.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

I'm sorry you are going through this. Me, my mother and father are going through something a little similar....not with my husband, but with other family members. The only thing I've learned is to not feed in to the lies. Whenever a lie would get back to me I would rant and rave and run and tell my husband so he could "fix it". Well, nothing ever changed. When I learned to hold my peace and not even address the lie, the storm would settle quickly.

Sorry you going through this especially with your child involved. You will get through it. I agree with the previous post, don't let the lies take your peace and joy. Stay in prayer and meditate on God's word.

Below are some scriptures to encourage you to press on in God's peace.

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. James 1:2-4

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. James 1:12

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. 14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. 1 Peter 4:12-14

Thank you all so much.....this right here!!!!! Doing fine and healed, living my life and this junk coming from no where!!! I will regain my peace in the name of Jesus!

I’m sorry that you are going through this ((((HUGS))). I’ve been experiencing slander and false accusations against me on my job. One particular person has done so much to try and sabotage my career due to her jealousy and bitterness. However, God is faithful to His children and things are beginning to turn around for my good.

I agree with the ladies that said hold on to your peace. It hasn’t’ always been easy for me but confessing and believing God’s word aloud has helped and strengthened me. It prevented me from cursing someone out and making things worst. I really had to trust God to avenge for me.

Furthermore, when you hold onto your peace you are able to handle the situation with God’s grace and wisdom. And what the enemy meant for evil, God will turn it around for your good.

Unfortunately, people fail to realize that gossip, slander, and lies are hurtful and murder to one’s soul. Thankfully, we serve a just and loving God that will not keep us in the hands of those who persecute our souls.

Here are some scriptures/verses/chapters that have helped me.
Psalm 91
Psalm 37
Psalm 35
Psalm 23
Jeremiah 17:7-10
Isaiah 41:10
Psalm 19:14

Be Blessed.

I truly thank each and every one of you for your responses. I need to trust Him to avenge me. If they hated Jesus, how much will they likewise hate me?

Yes, persecution will come but most importantly we are more than conquerors in Christ and well able to overcome by the power of the Holy Spirit :)

2 Corinthians 4:8-9
8We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
9Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

Just today I had to redirect my mind from focusing on some relatives who seemed bent on ruining my reputation with their lying tongues. I actually thought on coming on here to vent, but dealt with it my usual way instead (pray and change focus). I feel your pain. These are my scriptures:

1 Peter3:9 Do not repay evil for evil or insult with insult, but repay with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

vs. 14 But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened.

vs. 16 Keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behaviour in christ may be ashamed of their slander.

Proverbs 16:5 The LORD detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.

Proverbs 20: 22 Do not say, "I'll Pay you back for this wrong!" Wait for the LORD, and He will deliver you. (The first time God used this verse as an answer to something I was going through, I bawled like a baby and pitched a fit. I wanted revenge.:look:)

There is a Proverb that says 'lying lips are an abomination to the Lord'. I remind myself that God hates the lies too, vengence belongs to Him and He will repay. He is a God of recompence and I have been praying that He redeems my name. I'll pray the same for you, and that you are able to maintain a peaceful, joyful spirit even among haters.

One more thing. I went through a season of trying to defend myself and clear my name to someone who was hearing the lies and unfortunately things got worst. I've learnt that if people are quick to believe the worst about me, even to the point of shunning me, then that is their own choice and it's no use trying to gain their friendship.

Sending you love and hugs. I piggy back on all of the scriptures. I know it is easier said than done YOu KNOW that I KNOW.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Rom 8:28

There somany things that we can't see because we only see the problem. It is difficult not to focus on the problem. I really is. I pray that the Lord will give you peace beyond all understanding.

Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue [that] shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This [is] the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness [is] of me, saith the LORD.

Rom. 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but [rather] give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance [is] mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

Just from reading all of the scriptures posted, it's obvious that God knows we are going to face some of most difficulties circumstances through the way people treat us, especially those who are close. I just say to always keep Him even closer in your mind, heart and soul and He will provide.

One of my all time favorite scriptures, whether it's dealing with liars or anyone that causes strife...

Psalm 37

1Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

2For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

3Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

4Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

5Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

6And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

7Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

8Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

9For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

10For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

11But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

12The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.

13The LORD shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.

14The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.

15Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.

16A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.

17For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.

18The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.

19They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

20But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.

21The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.

22For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.

23The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.

24Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

25I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

26He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.

27Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.

28For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.

29The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.

30The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.

31The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

32The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.

33The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.

34Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

35I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.

36Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.

37Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.

38But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.

39But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.

40And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

I've gotten much more strength in the past few days and have practically forgotten it until I called my son today and his father answered. I was very cordial and had absolutely forgotten this mess and then he went ugly ballistic again. I wasn't expecting him to answer the cell. :rolleyes: I honestly hate the sob. That's what I'm going to work on next, not caring, thus, not sinning by hating. :lol: Hey, I'm real about it.

The LORD will vindicate me; your love, LORD, endures forever— do not abandon the works of your hands.” Psalm 138:8 NIV

Psalm 56

1 Be merciful to me, my God,
for my enemies are in hot pursuit;
all day long they press their attack.
2 My adversaries pursue me all day long;
in their pride many are attacking me.

3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
4 In God, whose word I praise—
in God I trust and am not afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?
5 All day long they twist my words;
all their schemes are for my ruin.
6 They conspire, they lurk,
they watch my steps,
hoping to take my life.
7 Because of their wickedness do not[c] let them escape;
in your anger, God, bring the nations down.
8 Record my misery;
list my tears on your scroll[d]
are they not in your record?
9 Then my enemies will turn back
when I call for help.
By this I will know that God is for me.
10 In God, whose word I praise,
in the LORD, whose word I praise—
11 in God I trust and am not afraid.
What can man do to me? 12 I am under vows to you, my God;
I will present my thank offerings to you.
13 For you have delivered me from death
and my feet from stumbling,
that I may walk before God
in the light of life.

I use to find comfort in turning some of these type of Psalms into prayers.

I heard this song today on radio and I thought of you. The first time I heard it was last year when I was (still am) going through horrid betrayal, rejection, being lied on etc. Back then it touched something in me, the negative aspects were real and I took it by faith that the positive (God's favor) was meant for me too. Today the words of it have truly manifested in my life. I know one day you'll look back and know God favored you. Your ex may not change but his antics would only make you shine more when God moves on your behalf.

Can you believe this scripture carried me through the first series of this mess when I separated from him? Thank you for bringing this back to me.
